Job summary
To perform a variety of fetching, carrying and other manual tasks in the kitchen and dining rooms.
To perform a variety of tasks associated with food production in the catering department.
To act in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Home.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. To assist in the operation of the dining room as instructed by the head chef
2. Pay particular attention to the Fire, Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations
3. Comply with all company policy issues, procedures and guidelines
4. Ensure correct uniform and personal hygiene is of the highest standard at all times
5. Participate in Company training to improve standards and performance
6. To provide a high quality service as required for the service users
7. Complete any other duties as required/requested by the Head Chef or Manager
8. To work in Compliance with COSHH regulation and Health and Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.
9. To carry meat, vegetables and other foodstuffs from the delivery vehicle to the storerooms, using correct load management techniques.
10. To carry out the cleaning of floors and walls, as determined by the cleaning schedule.
11. To empty waste bins.
12. To scrape food waste from dirty crockery and pots and pans.
13. To clean, wash and dry cutlery and glassware by hand or by machine.
14. To load the dishwasher with crockery and kitchen equipment as appropriate.
15. To ensure that all cutlery, crockery and glassware is clean and suitable for use.
16. To ensure adequate food stocks, crockery and cutlery are available for residents’ meals.
17. To prepare light refreshments and beverages for residents and visitors when requested.
Carrying out any other necessary duties as agreed with the Head Chef/ Home Manager .
Skills / Qualifications:
- Prefered but not nesscerey level 2 in food handling
- Experience working in a professional kitchen
