Care That Goes Beyond a Task

Making a difference means more than just providing care – it’s about bringing comfort, companionship and dignity to people’s lives. At Heanton Nursing Home, we support individuals with a range of complex needs, so the care we provide is not just about completing daily tasks. Unlike some care settings where support may be more routine or task-focused, working at Heanton means supporting the whole person – emotionally, mentally and physically. This holistic approach means understanding each individual's unique needs, behaviours, and personality and helping them live with as much comfort, connection and meaning as possible.

It takes a certain kind of person, compassionate, resilient and understanding, to truly make a difference. As a Care Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enriching lives, offering not only personal care but emotional reassurance, encouragement and connection. Every day brings the chance to help someone feel seen, valued and supported – turning everyday moments into something truly meaningful.

Personal Care

Personal care is an essential part of being a Care Assistant, ensuring that those you support can maintain their dignity at all times. This includes helping with things like washing, dressing, bathroom visits and always respecting personal choices and preferences. For example, you might support someone in getting ready for the day by helping them dress and ensuring they feel comfortable and confident in the outfit they have chosen to wear. While these responsibilities may feel personal, they are crucial in providing compassionate and respectful care, you empower individuals to live as independently as possible while feeling valued and supported.

Together, we can positively impact the lives of those who need care and support, helping them live with dignity and purpose. At Heanton, we encourage a continuation of life — supporting individuals to be as independent as they can be and, in many cases, enjoy a better quality of life than they had before moving in.
