Maintenance Handyperson Required
- An excellent opportunity has arisen in a Nursing home in Edinburgh, Scotland. We are looking for a mature self motivated, hardworking reliable and friendly all-rounder person, who is responsible and can speak fluent English as you will be working around vulnerable adults. And will be maintaining the Nursing Home, internally and externally.
- Full time 5 days a week (willing to be on call)
Duties:
- Good joinery, Plumbing, Painting, Electrical skills required- all are necessary or a good knowledge
- To carry out day to day maintenance on the fabric of the building, its equipment, services and grounds in order to ensure that the Home is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order.
- Decorating and maintaining public areas
- To ensure front and rear gardens, grounds and environment are tidy, well kept and litter free in order to present the Home to the best advantage.
- To keep accurate records of equipment and set maintenance schedules. To service and repair equipment as required.
- Fire safety and weekly check of fire alarm systems and completion of paperwork.
- Complete all relevant documentation and maintenance forms weekly & monthly as appropriate.
- To contact and liaise with contractors/managers/owner where appropriate in regard to repair and maintenance schedules, with a smile on face.
- To ensure paint and decorative standards in the home present the Home to the best advantage and record in the maintenance schedule. Any other duties deemed reasonable by Manager.
- Online training mandatory (must be completed prior to starting position) and renewed yearly
Communication:
- Participate in Staff meetings as and when required.
- Communicate with contractors where required.
- Meet on regular basis with Manager/ Owner regarding environmental issues.
Training and Development:
- Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
- Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes
Health & Safety:
- Adhere to the Home’s disposal of waste policy.
- Adhere to the Home’s policy for COSHH and legislation thereof.
- Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
- Understand and ensure the implementation of the Home’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
