My father had three strokes since the passing on my mother in 2018, long months in hospital until being moved to this home in 2024, however still had full mental capacity. As a result of this because he could speak up for himself and raised a complaint, the management decided 2 weeks before Christmas
to give him 14 day notice, then start stating invoices unpaid. Just to advise all invoices were paid in full and witnessed by bank. The care was inadequate as gave too much medication or missed. Would fail to to give the alarm button so could not contact careers for assistance. Would just leave in room. When requested information on invoices they decline to send and then make figures up and no proof ever provided.

We are writing in response to your recent feedback regarding the care provided to your father. We sincerely apologise that your experience did not meet your expectations and we take all complaints very seriously regardless of the complaints capacity. We have thoroughly reviewed each of the points you highlighted and have taken the necessary steps to address those that were found to be valid. We wish your father all the best.

I am the sister of a resident. My brother has been in care at Claremont Park for 6 weeks ending 31st January 2025 - and I can say he really enjoyed being there. My view is that it is friendly, homely, efficiently run and spotlessly clean. The staff are very helpful and kind, I was impressed.

My mother moved in here recently after spending a month in hospital. We have found the staff and management to be extremely helpful with all aspects of helping with mum and even make dad and everyone else who visits feel extremely welcome.

I've always found the staff to be very friendly and very affectionate with my mother. They are attentive and engage her in conversation regularly, as well as offering her frequent drinks to keep her hydrated. My mum is a wanderer and she is given space to do so, but the staff always keep an eye on her
whilst still giving her independence. I feel she is supported to be herself whilst still being provided with a high level of care to look after her health and mental well being. I feel the home itself provides a safe environment and the walled garden gives the residents access to light and fresh air whilst still being quiet and restful. My mum really enjoys walking round outside when the weather is fine. I would highly recommend this home & especially the staff.
Reply from Kirsty Mclellan, Home Manager at Claremont Park Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind words and glowing recommendation of our staff and the care we provide. Our principle is to treat each resident as a unique individual with specific needs and preferences and to respect their desires to explore independently, as well as to interact sociably when they choose. Your description of the balance we strike between supervision and independence assures us that we're on the right track with this approach and we appreciate your feedback.

The care given and rooms are beautiful. So warm and welcoming the staff are. Manager is brilliant and I was even offered lunch while visiting my friend, the food was delicious. If I can't visit, there is so much to do in the home with skittles and gardening groups. My friend's hair has never looked
so good. Wonderful!

Despite very difficult circumstances in COVID times the management and staff could not have been nicer and more professional in ensuring our mum was safe and comfortable. Brilliant regular communication helped at times as Mum adjusted to a new post-stroke life and few family visits. Lovely staff and
environment with garden space a welcome bonus.

Claremont Park Nursing Home have made my mother most welcome and settled. This has been a difficult time for myself and family. To watch your mother decline through dementia and other health issues. My mother like most people feel they can still cope on their own, reality is they cannot. I can sleep
at night now rest assured my mother is in good care and with friendly and competent staff. Thank you.

As we have been unable to visit I am unable to say how the home is to reside in for my auntie and she is unable to tell me as she has dementia and cannot hear when I call and speak to her. There seem to have been good changes since the new manager has taken over but I am unable to comment if this is
just due to more social media contact than the previous manager. I am hopeful however that the new manager will make great improvements to the care home.

Our family feels very lucky that my sister is in such a good place. The staff are doing their best to make her comfortable and secure. Thanks to their hard work, there were no cases of COVID-19 during the pandemic. My sister's condition significantly deteriorated but the carers and all the staff are
working very hard to meet her needs.

My mum has been in Claremont Park for the last 4 years.
The care she has received has been excellent! The staff, from kitchen to domestic to nursing staff are all wonderful. All the staff have been there for years, the atmosphere between them is great, always happy to help or answer questions and spend
time with you when you visit. We were really lucky to have Mum in such a friendly, happy, extremely clean and caring home.

My relative wasn't the easiest when she first went to Claremont Park and they treated her with respect and dignity. This wonderful care has continued for the three-plus years she has lived there. The staff are also extremely friendly, showing care to us relatives. The family could not be happier with
Claremont Park.

Current Review Score: 7.7 (7.748)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.7 (7.748) out of 10 for Claremont Park Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.043 for Claremont Park Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (4 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.043
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.705 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Claremont Park Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.455
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
