Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate Activities Coordinator to join our friendly care home team and help enrich the lives of our residents.
Golden Horizon Care Home is a Dementia specialist Care Home in the beautiful riverside town of Bewdley, Worcestershire. DY12 2ET
About the Role
As Activities Coordinator, you will take the lead in creating a varied and engaging programme of daily activities that reflect the interests, hobbies, and abilities of our residents. From gentle exercise sessions and arts and crafts to music, storytelling, and community visits, your ideas and energy will help residents feel valued, connected, and truly at home.
You will build trusting relationships with our residents, getting to know their stories, passions, and preferences, and tailoring activities to support their wellbeing and enjoyment. Whether it’s a group event or a quiet one-to-one session, your role is at the heart of keeping spirits lifted and days fulfilling.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a rich variety of group and one-to-one activities.
- Encourage residents to take part, supporting their confidence and abilities.
- Get to know residents personally, understanding their interests and life stories.
- Organise community visits, entertainment, seasonal events, and special celebrations.
- Work closely with families, volunteers, and local groups to bring fresh ideas and connections.
- Maintain accurate records of activity participation and resident feedback.
- Support occasional fundraising or community events for the home.
You are the right fit if you are:
- Naturally warm, friendly, and patient.
- Highly organised with lots of creativity and ideas.
- A great communicator with strong listening skills.
- Confident, approachable, and able to gently encourage participation.
- Flexible with hours (occasional weekends or evenings for special events).
- Reliable, self-motivated, and positive in outlook.
- Basic IT skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Some understanding of dementia and person-centred care is helpful (training provided).

- Reminiscence sessions, music and singing, arts and crafts.
- Sensory garden walks, gentle exercises like tai chi or dancing.
- Storytelling, baking, and themed celebration days.
- Visits from community groups, schools, or entertainers.
- Day trips and outdoor events when appropriate.
