We’re looking for someone who’s keen to clean to be part of our housekeeping team at our West Wickham nursing home. About the Role
We’re looking for a Laundry & Housekeeping Assistant at Coloma Court, our care home in West Wickham (Bromley). The home is in a lovely setting with good access to public transport. In this role you will work across multiple teams by providing support on a day to day to basis. It’s a dynamic role for an energetic can-do person and your responsibilities will include:
Laundry
- To ensure an efficient daily laundry service for residents’ personal clothing and occasional other care home linen. To collect items in a timely manner, liaising with the nursing and care staff, residents’ personal laundry from each occupied resident’s room
- Ensure that infected clothing is treated separately from soiled clothing, from the receptacles used for its collection, to the separation, sluicing and laundering of said items
- Launder residents’ personal clothing items, in accordance with the cleaning advice labels and manufacturer labels and to sort laundered personal items and return them to the correct rooms
- Keep the laundry and surrounding areas clean and orderly at all times, ensuring that soiled and laundered items do not come into contact with the floor, or with each other
- Follow health and safety at work and infection control procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse in Charge or Home Manager
Domestic
- Provide a quality housekeeping service to all residents in a polite and courteous manner and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the care home
- Carry out housekeeping duties with sensitive regard for resident and patient rights to dignity and privacy and to ensure that soiled linen is collected, laundered and returned to linen store cupboards
- Launder residents’ personal clothing items, separate from linen and in accordance with manufacturer labels
- Sort laundered personal items and return them to the correct rooms
- Keep the laundry clean and orderly at all times, ensuring that soiled and laundered items do not come into contact with the floor, or with each other
- Follow health and safety at work and infection control procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse in Charge
Kitchen
- Assist in the efficient running and maintenance of the catering department
- Maintain impeccable standards of hygiene
- Ensure high quality preparation of food and service
- Work as part of a team
- Work with all the kitchen staff in the preparation, storage and serving of food
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions and identify personal training needs
- Ensure that the Health and Safety policy of the home is followed at all times
- Undertake kitchen duties as directed by the Head Chef or Assistant Chef
