About the Role

As a Unit Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of one of our care units. This is a senior position that combines hands-on care with leadership and operational responsibilities. You will work closely with the Home Manager and wider leadership team to ensure the highest standards of care, compliance, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of care staff, ensuring compassionate, person-centred care is delivered consistently.
  • Oversee the daily operations of your unit, including staff deployment, care delivery, and resident wellbeing.
  • Conduct and review care assessments, risk assessments, and care plans in line with regulatory standards.
  • Administer medication safely and accurately, maintaining detailed records.
  • Carry out staff supervisions, appraisals, and performance reviews.
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to coordinate care and support.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations and internal quality standards through regular audits and reporting.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior care role within a residential or nursing home – essential
  • Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) – essential
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team
  • Confident in using digital care systems and maintaining accurate records
  • Experience in dementia care and person-centred planning – essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, compassionate, and professional approach to care
