Job Description: Housekeeping Supervisor

Location: Hart Care Residential Home
Reports to: Head of Housekeeping

Job Purpose

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control within the care home. They will supervise and support the head of housekeeping and the team to ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors, in line with regulatory requirements and the home’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
   •   Monitor and inspect cleanliness regularly, addressing any shortfalls promptly.
   •   Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control procedures, including safe disposal of waste and use of cleaning products.
   •   Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, stock levels, and equipment maintenance.
   •   Manage stock of cleaning supplies, placing orders and controlling usage effectively.

•   Report maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate department or manager.
   •   Work collaboratively with care and catering teams to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for residents.
   •   Uphold health and safety standards, ensuring COSHH regulations and risk assessments are followed.
   •   Provide hands-on cleaning support when required, particularly during staff shortages or emergencies.

Experience and Qualifications
   •   Previous experience in housekeeping within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality environment (essential).
   •   Experience in a supervisory or team leader role (essential).
   •   Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures (essential).
   •   Training in COSHH, Health & Safety, and infection control (desirable, but training can be provided).
