Job summary

Rusthall Lodge registered with CQC can accommodate a maximum of 69 Residents.

 The Care Home is located in Rusthall and is a not-for-profit Care Home with a legacy spanning over 50 years.

Purpose

The Clinical Lead is responsible for overseeing the safe delivery of nursing care and ensuring that the Registered ’s clinical/care performance fulfils the required fundamental standards. The appointed person will adopt a ‘hands on’ approach, working with and taking responsibility for the Nursing and Health Care Assistant teams and applying the highest standards of modern and professional practice. They will ensure that the Care Homes policies and procedures are followed, along with the relevant legislation, to fulfil Residents’ individual needs.

What the role involves

The Clinical Lead has full responsibility for the overall safety of all Residents and supports the Registered Manager in facilitating the smooth running of the Care Home. You will also take overall responsibility for managing the Care Home in the absence of the Registered Manager.

A Clinical Manager’s shift often starts early in preparation for the busy day ahead. The first task may be to do a ‘quality walk’ on all the floors, talking to night staff about what has happened during the night. They will later attend the Nurses’ handover meeting and ensure that Nurses and Health Care Assistant Teams all know what is scheduled to happen that day.

Because quality assurance is a crucial aspect of a Clinical Lead’s role, they will spend time each day auditing various aspects of care delivery to identify errors and areas for improvement, developing action plans to rectify and problem areas. This may include reviewing the effectiveness of care plans or checking that medication is administered and stored safely. The Unit Clinical Manager also conducts pre-admission assessments to evaluate potential Residents’ needs and ensure that the Care Home can meet these fully and safely.

Another core responsibility is to provide leadership and support to the Nursing team. The Clinical Lead works closely with nursing team to ensure that care aligns with residents’ needs. This involves offering guidance and addressing any challenges. The Clinical Lead conducts supervision and appraisals, overseeing staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage and assisting with recruitment and onboarding processes. They also help ensure that staff have the relevant skills and training to provide safe and effective care.

About The Role

Your focus as Clincal Lead will be to support the Care Management Team to deliver high quality care with a difference by providing a safe, caring, innovative, open, supportive and inclusive environment for Residents, visitors and staff.

Other responsibilities will include:

 • Leading a team of Nurses, Team Leaders and Health Care Assistants to provide staff support, including demonstrations and instruction of care activities.

 • Enhancing and promoting the Resident's quality of life through effective care planning

.• An enthusiastic approach to encouraging and motivating people

 • The ability to work confidently using your own initiative

As this is a management role, you should ideally have post-registration and management or supervisory experience and/or training or qualifications. Moreover
