Job summary
Job Purpose:
To plan, organise, and deliver a range of social, recreational, and therapeutic activities that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents in the care home. The role supports residents in maintaining independence, social interaction, and enjoyment of life.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities suitable for residents’ abilities, interests, and care needs.

Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to meet individual preferences and mobility levels.

Work closely with care staff to ensure activities are integrated into residents’ daily routines and care plans.

Organise special events, outings, and celebrations (e.g. birthdays, holidays, themed days).

Maintain accurate records of residents’ participation and feedback on activities.

Support residents in maintaining links with the local community and family members.

Purchase and maintain activity materials and equipment within a set budget.

Promote a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment within the home.

Comply with all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, and confidentiality policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

Previous experience in a care home or activity-based role preferred.

NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).

Training in dementia awareness or activity provision desirable.
