Job summary

Responsible to: Head of Home, Management Team, Senior Care

Role purpose: Reporting to the Home Manager you will be responsible for planning and organising a varied and interesting programme of therapeutic leisure activities and events to enhance the lives, and improve the holistic wellbeing of our residents. Spending time getting to know our residents and their families will help you tailor activities and leisure pursuits for each resident and deliver the person-centred care that is of paramount importance to our Home.

Main duties are to:

• To devise new and stimulating activities for residents and encourage residents to participate in those activities. To document/ evidence activities via photographs & reports.
• Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities.
• Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
• Assist in meeting the emotional needs of the resident, listening, basic counselling, support residents with confusion and with their group living.
• Read and write reports, take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed.
• Record any changes or issues that appertain to residents on the Home’s records and to contribute toward information gathering with regard to updating residents’ care plans.
• Escort residents in the home's minibus on outings, shopping, walks, appointments etc.
• Help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
