Job summary
Benslow nursing home is a nursing home in Hitchin registered for up to 35 residents. This a small home and is one of three in the Benslow care home group. This is a homely establishment and we are now looking for a night nurse due to a vacancy that has arisen. We pride ourselves is providing a caring, supportive environment to work in and welcome an applicant that demonstrates care, empathy and teamwork. We specialise in dementia care and end of life care and support residents to achieve the best outcomes whilst they are with us.
Duties include:
- Ensuring timely response to and reporting of, any ill-health amongst residents and the requests for GP / Professional visits where necessary.
- Ensuring meals are of sufficient quantity and good quality, and that residents dietary needs are met.
- Undertaking general nursing work and personal care as appropriate.
- Administering prescribed medicines and maintaining the necessary records as per Company guidelines.
- To monitor and maintain professional standards within the NMC code of professional conduct, and according to NCSC regulations and policy.
- Monitoring Care Plan documentation, to ensure best practice.
- Practicing maximum integrity in all dealings with residents' personal and financial affairs when required, and avoiding abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with residents.
- Maintaining effective communications with the Home Manager.
- As requested by, and/or in the absence of, the Home Manager maintaining effective communications with Residents, Relatives, Staff Members, and any other concerned bodies.
- Obtaining a report from the Person in Charge, and advising the Home Manager, regarding any incident / accident, and the status of any Residents whose care / health is causing concern.
- Supervising visits and liaising with GPs in order to establish a good relationship between GPs / Health Care Professionals and the Home
- Ensuring a clear and concise Handover Report is given to all Staff Members.
- Arranging / participating in Staff and Resident meetings as and when required.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Empathy Person centred care At least two years experience working in an older persons nursing home Active NMC pin Teamwork Ability and experience of leading a shift Good communication skills
