Job summary

Job Role: Finance Officer 

Hours: 37 hours per week 

Pay Rate: £28,000 per annum 

Location: Hybrid Role once training completed. Office Address: Taunton TA1 2PX

Shift Patterns: Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5pm Friday 8.30-4.30

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working within a busy finance environment
  • High degree of computer literacy and system proficiency – good existing knowledge of Excel including lookup formulae and pivot tables; willingness to learn more
  • Experience of credit control procedures, and understanding of Sales Ledger processes 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal

As a Finance Officer you will: 

  • Work closely with the Community & Realise administrators and Systems Support, ensure that all invoices are either printed and distributed, or extracted electronically for additional processing where necessary, to meet invoice calendar deadlines.
  • Adjustment of local authority invoices via extensive use of Excel, with varying formats to meet individual requirements of relevant County Council or NHS organisation.
  • Export of invoices from the care planning system (Roster) into the general ledger system (Sun) and reconciliation of any differences.
  • Processing of any necessary income/accounting adjustments in our Sun sales ledger system.
  • Implementing and following robust credit control procedures, with support from colleagues and the Finance Manager as needed. This will involve liaison, either verbally or in writing, with local authorities, Community & Realise staff, and service users, to review and progress appropriate action to achieve effective debt recovery.
  • Preparing aged debtor lists and credit control reports in Excel for review with managers.
  • Ensure that queries from external customers and internal staff are dealt with professionally and within reasonable timescales.
