At Schoen Clinic York, we are looking for a Lead Nurse to join our Dementia Service, a role that combines clinical excellence, team leadership, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of our residents and their families.

Main duties of the job

As the Lead Nurse in Dementia, you'll take a pivotal role in managing all aspects of clinical practice within the wards. You'll ensure that care delivery aligns with evidence-based practice, national guidance, and the highest professional standards.

Working closely with the Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager and General Manager, you'll support the day-to-day running of the unit, creating a safe, therapeutic, and person-centred environment for every patient. You'll inspire and guide your nursing and healthcare team to deliver exceptional, coordinated care through collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the nursing and healthcare team to uphold safe and effective clinical practice across Wellen Court.

• Work with the Clinical Lead to ensure safe staffing levels and contribute to the on-call rota.

• Oversee complex assessments, admissions, and discharges, supporting clinical decision-making and care planning.

• Ensure adherence to NMC guidelines, the Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.

• Promote a culture of learning and professional development by mentoring and training colleagues.

• Represent the nursing team at multidisciplinary meetings and external forums.

• Support the Clinical Lead with audits, supervision, appraisals, and overall service development.
