Job summary
Assistant Chef required for our Care Home in Broxburn
We require a Assistant Chef/Cook for our quality driven and family owned care home in Broxburn. We provide a friendly, caring and positive environment for our residents who look forward to good quality, interesting and wholesome food
- You will be responsible for assisting our head chef to work within budgets, and ensure that you can cover for them when they are off duty or on holiday.
- You will also be responsible for the EHO requirements and paperwork for the kitchen when on shift
- You will hold a current HACCP qualification and have experience of producing nutritious and appealing meals for our residents.
- You will be required to produce 3 meals a day including preparation for supper and home baking, snacks and trolley service
You will be assisted by a kitchen assistant who will work alongside you, and have the support of a great team of care staff and management.
The hours are part time, 2 days from 7, which will include alternate weekend work, and to cover for holidays and illness if required (there may also be shifts available as P/T Kitchen Assistant if this is of interest)
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in food preparation and cooking for residents.
- Supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Collaborate with the team to develop menu options.
- Manage inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Ensure that meals are served promptly and meet dietary requirements.
- Contribute to a positive dining experience for all residents.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a chef or cook in a similar role in a kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent cooking skills with a passion for delivering appetising meals
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and dietary needs.
