The staff are fantastic with my father. He is well looked after, always clean. There is one member of staff who always goes above and beyond her duties to do what she can to make Dad's life better, and always has his best interest at heart. She looks out for the family too. She's always smiling and
laughing.

I cannot thank everyone enough at Broxburn Nursing Home for the care given to my dad. It has been an emotional few months and I do not know what I would do without them. I just want to see my dad content, loved and cared for. I couldn't ask for any more.

My husband has been a resident for nearly nine months. He settled very quickly. The staff are hardworking, patient, caring and kind. If any issues arise they are quickly dealt with.

My partner has been in the home for over four years now, and there have been continual improvements to the home during that time, particularly under the new manager. The care is always good, and my partner is settled. I can see that she is cared for, and the staff all like her. If there are any issues,
then they are resolved once they are brought to their attention. It is a relief for me to know that I can trust in the care my partner is given. That is so important.

We as a family are very happy with the care our dad gets. He is very happy and settled. He thinks a lot of all the staff and enjoys all activities and wee drink nights. Once again a big thanks from all the family for all the care you give Dad.

My relative has been in the home for a year now and I have to say that the care and support he and our family have received has been 1st class since day one. The difference in him has been fantastic. While it may not be the fanciest in town the important thing is that the staff are amazing and caring
and dare I say it loving. That is more important to me than a fancy room in a home where no one interacts with the residents.
Their activities co-ordinator does a remarkable job with activities most days and its great to see staff joining in with the activities. The private Facebook page for family's and friends is a fantastic support to members of my family who do not live close enough to visit regularly. This allows them to see what our relative is doing and they can see how happy he is.

I can not recommend Broxburn Care Home enough.
The residents are very well looked after by the friendly, smiling, patient and caring staff.
The residents enjoy good food, outings, sing-alongs, visiting entertainers, social nights and pamper sessions to name but a few.
The staff are upbeat and treat
the residents with affection and respect.
A most difficult decision of having to have my father go into care was made easier, in the knowledge that he is looked after by the most caring, capable and hardworking staff.

Broxburn Nursing home has proved itself to be a happy environment for its patients. The staff are very friendly to everyone, their medical care is excellent. They also try to get patients to interact within their capabilities and trying new things. I have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home
it has given my family the peace of mind that our loved one is being well taken care of mentally as well as physically.

During the visits to this care home I have to say the level of care is excellent, every member of staff I have seen is kind and caring. There are lots of activities and party nights and also lots of outside entertainers come in to perform for the residents. The menus I’ve seen also look scrumptious
and wholesome. I can’t fault it.

Since my Dad went into the care of the staff at Broxburn Nursing Home he has been given a new lease of life. The difference in him is wonderful, he seems at least 10 years younger than his 90 years. He has made friends and now takes an interest in many things - he particularly enjoys the social nights
and anything that involves music. The staff are amazing with him - he constantly sings their praises. He is very well looked after and it is a great weight off the family’s shoulder to know that he will always be well cared for. He has a lovely room which affords him privacy and peace and quiet if he so desires. Just recently, because the weather has been fine, he has enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air in the lovely gardens. He seems to really enjoy the food (his only complaint is that he has put on weight!) I would definitely recommend Broxburn Care Home to anyone looking to put a loved one into care. Thanks to everyone who looks after him, very much appreciated!

The staff are wonderful, both with the residents and with visitors/family. There is a good atmosphere in the home. The new activities coordinator is doing a great job. Any concerns are dealt with promptly. There is a lovely garden. If I end up in a care home I'd be happy to come to this one!

My mother has been resident here for over 18 months now and we as a family, are very happy with the service provided by Broxburn Nursing Home.

Quality of Care
In the 18+ months she has been there, she has received an excellent quality of care. The nursing/care team are on the ball and quick to help

us when we have queries, or notify us of any concerns they have. The regular review meetings are great, as it gives us a chance to discuss my mother's needs.

Friendly Staff
The staff in general are very helpful, but there are a special few who go above and beyond. They make an extra effort to get to know my mother and the other residents; laughing and joking with them and creating a lovely atmosphere.

Activities
I'm delighted with the recent activities on offer; day trips, performers entertaining the residents etc. I hope this will continue, as I think it's so important to keep people like my mother stimulated and busy, not just sitting around all day watching television and suchlike.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.431)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.431) out of 10 for Broxburn Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.350 for Broxburn Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.35

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.081 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broxburn Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.581

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
