Cook Kitchen Assistant Catering and Hospitality - Hallhouse Care Home Contract: Permanent
Salary: £12.34 Per Hour

Located in the peaceful village of Fenwick, East Ayrshire, Hallhouse Care Home provides high-quality Residential, Nursing, and Respite care for up to 47 residents. With an impressive we are dedicated to delivering compassionate, person-centred care in a warm and welcoming environment.

As Cook/Kitchen Assistant, you will work alongside the Head Chef to deliver a high quality of food to our residents and ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.

Cook/Kitchen Assistant Contract

  • £12.34 per hour
  • 16 hours per week Cook or 32 hours per week (2 days per week as cook / 2 days per week as kitchen assistant)
  • Additional £1 per hour for weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday)
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata)

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

  •  City & Guilds 706 – 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards)
  •  Team player.
  •  Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  •  Good communication skills.
  •  Ability to work on own initiative

Desired

  •  Experience of food preparation for the relevant Service User group.
  •  Experience working in a care environment would be advantageous but not a deal-breaker.

Main Responsibilities

  •  Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, as and when required.
  •  Bake cakes and pastries
  •  Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks
  •  Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in handling and delivery of food.
  •  Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
  •  Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer/fridge temperatures.
  •  Ensure stock rotation.
  •  Assist in the ordering of stocks and checking of deliveries
  •  Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
  •  Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately
