Henderson House Care Home

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My wife has been a resident of Henderson House for 3 years now and the Care she has had is totally satisfactory. The care staff have got to know her and she is treated more like an old friend or relative than a care home resident..
She is happy and contented most of the time, and for my part I am
confident that she is being looked after well.
If she does get upset ( as part of her illness) the staff soon notice and are adept at cheering her up
The environment of the Home is bright and modern and is kept very clean and odour free at all times.
Reply from Richard Lake, Manager at Henderson House Care HomeThank you for your lovely feedback.

We are very pleased with the care our mum receives at Maryfield West. The staff are kind, attentive and genuinely caring, and they always take the time to make sure she is comfortable and well looked after.
The home is very well run, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food is good and varied,
and mum really enjoys her meals. There are also excellent activities organised regularly, which keep residents engaged and give them plenty to look forward to. It gives us real peace of mind knowing she is in such a supportive environment, and we are very grateful to all the staff for the care and compassion they show every day.
Reply from Diana Toneva, Home Manager at Maryfield West Nursing HomeThank you Julie for the kind feedback. Your mum is a pleasure to look after and we are delighted to have her here with us. I will share the feedback with the team. Best regards

My wife has been a resident since February 2025. I visit nearly every day, sometimes twice if events are on. The staff have always been excellent for my wife and myself. My wife has her hair done by the hairdresser every week. I have eaten meals at Christmas and New Year with my wife at home, and the
food is very good. Plenty of activities. Because my wife is mobile, I walk nearly every day on the beach at the rear of home. My wife has a great friendship with carers as they strive to keep everyone happy. My friends and family who visit think as I do.

Over all Mums care is good and I really appreciate all the staff who care for mum with love, however I feel the food quality is poor not nutrition enough or worthy of the fees.
I've raised my thoughts with 3 Managers on this and my views on lounge area (clinical and unhomely)
I've suggested a designated
member of staff for the tv and smart speaker as currently TV switch on and left all day on whatever Chanel tv was switched on.
I don't feel there is enough movement Mum sits all day and now shuffles when walks
Zero residents outings and why has sunshine club stopped ?
I never see activity done when residents when I'm in.
No pictures on social media anymore so don't see what mums been up too which in my head isn't much.
Reply from Richard Lake, Manager at Henderson House Care HomeWe agree that there is always room for improvement, and we have listened carefully to everyone's feedback. As a result, we are in the process of installing new kitchens within the living areas, helping to keep these spaces tidy, welcoming, and homely.

We are also excited to be welcoming a team of four experienced activity coordinators in the coming weeks. This will allow us to offer residents meaningful activities every day.

Feedback is very important to us, as it supports continual improvement-something our dedicated team strives for on a daily basis.

My wife has been a resident at Henderson House Care Home since October 2025. I was understandably anxious about this big step but my experiences of the past 4 months have dispelled any concerns I may have had.
The nursing and caring staff are amazing, showing so much compassion, patience and loving
care that I have total confidence that my wife is being very well looked after. A new Manager and office staff are always available to offer advice and updates, which provides even more security.
It is so obvious that the staff are not only very well trained but are personally invested in the well being of the residents.
Henderson House is a slightly older care home but the cleanliness, buzz of activity, laughter and caring staff give it a really homely feel. I highly recommend it.

Maryfield Care Home, Aberdeen has looked after my parents over a span of 9 years and they both received the utmost care and were shown respect , empathy and dignity . The staff are very caring and supportive not only to the residents but to the relatives too which in my experience has been invaluable.
I would highly recommend Maryfield Care Home for your loved ones as the family atmosphere, low turnover of staff and the activities/ outings organised are excellent for the health and wellbeing of the residents .

This was the best thing we did for our mum - after settling in she was a new person - her fun, humour and taking part in activities was brilliant. All the staff are so helpful, caring and will do anything for you - they also have a fantastic sense of humour which we totally enjoy. The rooms are spacious,
always very clean and you can add any homely touches you want to make their stay as happy as possible. The activities provided are second to none - mentally stimulating, incorporates fitness made fun and encourages social interaction - whoever thinks all the many variety of activities should get many Gold Stars. I would certainly recommend Gowrie Care Home to anyone looking for a friendly, fun filled, caring place for their relative to stay.

My mum is very happy at Gowrie, doing things she struggled with at home like personal care, because she's being cared for24/7.she loves all the staff, they are very kind and caring and are happy to help in any way they can if we have any issues.the food is great and mum really enjoys it,there is entertainment
on twice a day which she can choose to go to or not, also the entertainment staff take the residents out on trips as the have a wee bus, entertainment staff are fantastic with all the residents.overall I'd say myself and my sister are very happy we found Gowrie house for my mum and she and we are very happy with everything.

I find staff to be very attentive, including the activities co-ordinator. It is evident that residents are treated as individuals and a person centred approach is being used. I have noticed that staff know my father very well and are aware of his likes and dislikes. The atmosphere always appears relaxing
and staff are always present, and approachable. Residents are stimulated with activities on a daily basis.

When we were told both my inlaws will need 24/7 care we were advised to look at care homes, we looked at a few, Gowrie was our first and the one we went back to, as it felt homely, is clean, great atmosphere, the staff and management are all welcoming, friendly and always have a smile and speak to us.
Love that there is always activities for the residence in the home they also get taken out. Sadly my mother-in-law passed while there but they looked after her so well and made her comfortable, my father-in-law is still there and they look after all his needs, he likes the meals there too.
It's like an extended family, good feeling.

I am overwhelmed with the care and support dad and I have received this month since he moved in. He has slept well, enjoyed the food, been on outings and taken part in activities. There is always something going on. He is happy and I am happy! Medical care and support has been wonderful and encouraging
him through awkward situations has been fantastic. Every single member of the team is helpful and friendly and they all seem very knowledgeable about every resident. It is a huge relief knowing dad is now safe and getting the support he needs. Further upgrade of facilities is a progress.
