Queens View Harbour Care Home located in Troon is a brand new purpose-built home that opened in July 2021 that offers exceptional levels of Residential, Nursing, Respite and Dementia care for the elderly.

All of the home's 56 luxury appointed bedrooms offer en-suite wet rooms, contemporary furnishings, flat screen TV, high speed internet access and state of the art assistance call systems, with many enjoying enviable views across the Firth of Clyde to Arran.

Staff cannot do enough for my uncle. They go out of their way to be kind to him and spend a little time with him. This makes all the difference to his wellbeing. He is very well cared for and I know he is in safe hands.

The care home rooms are excellent and the staff are lovely.
On staffing, the feedback I will give is they are not sufficiently staffed. Small touches that would make this a 5-Star rather than 4-star are missing all too often. I don't see this as an issue with the people, it's an issue with the staffing
level.
The entertainment is really good - the two members of staff do all they can and it's terrific what they can achieve.
The food is average - more like school dinners far too often and not warranting even 4 stars.

It has taken 2 days to think about what to write but on behalf of my 2 sisters and myself, we can't thank the whole staff from cleaners to carers enough for the love, care and attention that was given to her to help her settle in. The activity co-ordinators who took her in hand to make her feel included,
the hairdresser who kindly kept her looking lovely including her nails, the chefs who catered for meals and mostly the carers who went above and beyond. Being so far away (almost 500 miles) and with a husband with Parkinson's and dementia, visiting was restricted to 2 visits a year but phone calls almost every evening. She was in such a state when we arrived 2 years ago and Queens View taking her in at such short notice was a real lifeline. You all, each and every one, deserve a medal. We are coming up in September, it was already booked and will call in to visit if permitted. Thank you thank you thank you.

I have been in many homes over the last 10 years and have seen many different standards. Queens View Harbour Care Home surpasses anything I have experienced and would be the level of care I would want for myself and any loved one.
The staff get to know the residents individually allowing them to meet
personal needs are the heart and soul of the facility. They are compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to providing the best possible care to each resident. Moreover, the staff go above and beyond to make each resident feel safe and supported.
One aspect which does stand out is the range of activities and entertainment provided. There is always a calendar full of engaging and stimulating events. The staff encourage participation and ensures that residents feel included and valued.
Overall, my experience is that my aunt is experiencing exceptional care in a 5-star establishment. The care, comfort, and sense of community provided by the staff are outstanding. I would highly recommend.

This care home and the staff are amazing! The carers are so good with all the residents and it is obvious that they really care about them treating them with so much respect.

The standard of the facilities is superb and cleverly designed to produce an atmosphere where the residents

Have visited many care homes over the years and I have found Queens View to be the best, not only in decor but the atmosphere is good as the staff are very friendly and attentive. Over Xmas, there were lots of activities going on every day to make it as nice as possible for the residents. The staff
try very hard to make life enjoyable. Hair is always done and nails are beautifully painted.

Someone said to me about searching for a care home for mum, "You'll know when it's the right one!" After looking at many locally with my sister for mum (who had no desire to be in a care home, similar to many parents of her generation), that's exactly how it was with Queens View Harbour Care Home when
we first visited in May '23. Mum became a resident in mid August and has settled better than any of us expected, and we have to say a huge thank you to the management and team at QVH for this. Mum looks happier than we have seen in years, she has companionship, stimulating activities and much improved nutrition, which wasn't able to be provided in a home setting. As my sister and I live abroad it was important for us to have a home for mum where we knew she could be cared for with compassion and dignity, considering her condition and we would have good and prompt communication as needed, and so far so good.

I cannot praise the whole team at Queens View Harbour Care Home highly enough. My sister has been resident there for 9 months now and has displayed some “challenging” behaviours which everyone is trying so hard to deal with. In addition there has been swallowing issues for my sister and the effort they
have gone to to increase her nourishment is second to none. The senior staff and management are always there and visible to us. The care attendants, housekeeping team and reception staff are so welcoming. Catering staff also deserve praise too. Thank you everyone.

Mum’s 91st birthday was this month and the staff helped organise a fantastic family event. The manager made it all happen and the staff went over and beyond, as usual. The kitchen staff did an amazing afternoon tea and special birthday cake and the reception and entertainment staff were so helpful,
decorating the room and helping it all run smoothly. All the staff made Mum’s day so special. Mum had a brilliant time and we are just so appreciative of the care they give.

Our mother has now been in residence for a year. Administration staff and care staff have been superb. Mum is quite frail but can be funny and feisty and seems held in affection. She has had severe back pain over the past few months and the level of care from each member of staff has been nothing short
of outstanding. Not only have they been supportive with our mother, they have given my sister and myself a lot of time, discussing how best to look after her and update us on any changes no matter how small. Knowing that Mum is looked after so well, night and day, is of great comfort to us.

My stepmother has been under Queen's View Harbour's care for the past 18 months. She was very frail when she arrived and we weren't sure she would make it to the first Christmas there, far less the second. I believe this is down to the exceptional care she gets from very dedicated staff. My stepmother
is always treated with great kindness and she herself agrees that the staff are very caring. The ambience at Queens View Harbour is delightful and every effort is made to entertain the residents throughout the year.

My mother came into Queens View 6 months ago. We were apprehensive about her going into a care home and it was a difficult decision for us, as a family, as we had cared for her 15 years prior. But as her dementia increased, we realised we could no longer continue and started looking for a place for
Mum to be cared for. We were so fortunate that a space in Queens View became available at that time. In my review, I have given top marks in all aspects of the care of Mum. Staff have been so caring, kind and helpful and if Mum could have written this review she would have said the same, in fact they are like her family in many aspects and she loves her new extended family, staff and others that she interacts with throughout the day. Queens View is so clean and beautiful with many activities to keep her stimulated and we as her family are so so grateful that mum gets to spend the rest of her life in the very best of places. We visit most days and always go home thanking God for Queens View.

It was a real struggle to have to make the decision to put our mother, who has dementia into a care home last year after many years caring for her in her own home. But I can recommend this care home as a beautiful place, where Mum has some of her own furniture and familiar belongings in her own room,
and it’s such a comfort and relief to know that she is safe, warm and being well cared for by the lovely, attentive staff there. She is very sociable and enjoys, and is stimulated by, the company of the staff and other residents, as well as the many activities and fun things that they organise. She is happy there, happier than we ever imagined. A huge thank you to all the staff, you are the best!

Lovely team, very clean, good rooms, mother happy, resident events - lots of fun. We looked at multiple care homes in Ayrshire / Scotland and absolutely nothing compares. Also, it doesn’t have that smell one tends to find in care homes.

My Mum moved into Queens View Harbour just before Christmas. It is an excellent facility, and she has settled in really well. She has dementia, and gets very anxious but the team are well trained to help her and make her feel safe. The standard of the nursing care is very person centric, this, and the
well organised social activities have made an immediate difference to my Mum. She is much less anxious than before, and says that she feels safe and happy in Queens View Harbour. The facilities and activities in the home are excellent, well thought through and extremely high standard. The location is great, being very near the centre of Troon and overlooking the sea. All in, a much easier transition than we had hoped for, in a brilliant environment. A big thank you to all the team, brilliant culture.

Maggie, Head of Housekeeping, has been a member of the Queens View Harbour Team almost since day one. Maggie is a very professional individual who carries her own highest standards into her job and ensures the levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the home are as high as possible. Maggie’s wonderful organisational skills and team management bring a much-appreciated level of professionalism to the home and she enjoys her role and the friendly environment and loves making new friends with the residents and their families.

Lynne joined our team about 18 months ago. Lynne thoroughly enjoys her job here at QVH. She is always happy and cheerful at work and interacts well with both staff and residents. Lynne previously worked in the hospitality sector and was looking for a career change when she came to QVH.

Liz joined the Queens View Harbour Administrative team in October 2021 and has brought with her a wealth of administrative and organisation skills to the home. Liz’s previous roles include Manager, Head Receptionist, and Wedding Co-ordinator with 2 prestigious West of Scotland Hotels. Liz’s IT and organisational skills have helped shape the backbone of the supremely well-organised and excellent record keeping which the home has benefited from since she started. With her friendly smile and willingness to assist with any query big or small, she is a huge asset to the team.

Linsey Stevenson

Job Title: Receptionist

Linsey joined the Queens View Harbour Reception Team in 2022 after trialling early retirement and deciding it wasn’t quite for her just yet. Linsey comes from an administrative background and gained a Degree in Admin Management and Marketing. For the last 20 years, she has worked as a PA and Admin Manager for a private hospital in Ayrshire and has had a long career dealing with NHS and private Consultants, GPs, Care Inspectors and has a wealth of knowledge required for dealing with both the public and professionals within the community. Being from Troon, Linsey is loving meeting friends old and new who pass through the doors of Queens View Harbour and she has found working with the residents to be an absolute joy.

Brenda

Brenda Haywood

Job Title: Receptionist

Joined: 2022

Brenda joined Queens View Harbour Care Home in October 2022 and has become a much-liked and respected member of the Reception Team by residents, staff, and visitors alike. Brenda previously grew up in Ireland and then went on to live and work in New York and then London. Brenda and her family have spent a number of years in Abu Dhabi and returned to her husband Ian’s home town of Troon last year. In Abu Dhabi, Brenda was a Sales Manager for a Cleaning Company. Brenda loves to travel but is enjoying being back in Troon where she likes walking along the beach in her spare time. With her lovely smile and sunny personality, Brenda is a welcome face and a very valued member of the QVH team.
