Mum was brought to Henderson House to die after a spell in hospital. Mum's care needs were extremely complicated; however, the care that she received was second to none. She was always comfortable, clean and well groomed. Mum died a dignified death in a loving and caring environment.

My mum was admitted to Henderson House Care Home at the beginning of December and immediately the friendly staff made her feel welcome and at ease. She settled in so well that she started putting on weight. She had a lovely outlook from her room over the garden and liked to watch the sunsets. She took pleasure in seeing and hearing all the comings and goings of the day to day care home life and wanted her door left open. From all the positives we experienced we fully expected my mum to be in her 'forever home' for a couple of years. Unfortunately her health deteriorated quite suddenly and she sadly passed after just 2 months. We cannot praise the staff highly enough for the care and compassion they showed. They always treated my mum with dignity, professionalism and empathy.

My overall experience is good. I feel that the residents could do with a lot more activities; they spend far too much time in their rooms, and need to get their minds more stimulated. The staff are excellent and do what they can, although they are understaffed.

My wife has been a resident of Henderson House for 3 years now and the Care she has had is totally satisfactory. The care staff have got to know her and she is treated more like an old friend or relative than a care home resident..
She is happy and contented most of the time, and for my part I am confident that she is being looked after well.
If she does get upset ( as part of her illness) the staff soon notice and are adept at cheering her up

The environment of the Home is bright and modern and is kept very clean and odour free at all times.

Over all Mums care is good and I really appreciate all the staff who care for mum with love, however I feel the food quality is poor not nutrition enough or worthy of the fees.
I've raised my thoughts with 3 Managers on this and my views on lounge area (clinical and unhomely)
I've suggested a designated member of staff for the tv and smart speaker as currently TV switch on and left all day on whatever Chanel tv was switched on.
I don't feel there is enough movement Mum sits all day and now shuffles when walks
Zero residents outings and why has sunshine club stopped ?
I never see activity done when residents when I'm in.

No pictures on social media anymore so don't see what mums been up too which in my head isn't much.

We agree that there is always room for improvement, and we have listened carefully to everyone's feedback. As a result, we are in the process of installing new kitchens within the living areas, helping to keep these spaces tidy, welcoming, and homely.

My wife has been a resident at Henderson House Care Home since October 2025. I was understandably anxious about this big step but my experiences of the past 4 months have dispelled any concerns I may have had.
The nursing and caring staff are amazing, showing so much compassion, patience and loving care that I have total confidence that my wife is being very well looked after. A new Manager and office staff are always available to offer advice and updates, which provides even more security.
It is so obvious that the staff are not only very well trained but are personally invested in the well being of the residents.

Henderson House is a slightly older care home but the cleanliness, buzz of activity, laughter and caring staff give it a really homely feel. I highly recommend it.

Discussed my father's well being and this was noted by staff. My father misplaces items as he has early dementia so plan to be put in place so he doesn't lose his hearing aids and spectacles.
The staff have been attentive to his daily needs and I feel he is receiving good care and attention, whilst keeping on top of administering his medication.

The staff are always kind and friendly towards my father and include him in all activities he wishes to attend.

Mum was admitted January 25 until her death on 6th. June.
During her stay, the staff did all they could to help, make her welcome, comfortable, and as happy as could be.
The staff were compassionate, caring, always with a smile. Mum, initially interacted freely with the carers, but unfortunately, as her condition deteriorated and needed more care.
As time went on Mum needed more intensive care which the staff delivered with a smile. As time passed she became completely unable to do anything for herself. The carers continued to provide professional care up to the last day.

Thank you all.

I've been really happy with my mum's care since she moved to Henderson House, and the attention of the staff has been amazing. My mum has made good progress and is enjoying participating in the many events organised by the staff, who go above and beyond to entertain their service users. The recent silent disco was a triumph!

All in all, we as a family are delighted with Henderson House.

Everyone at Henderson house always has the service users interests at heart. My mum is normally the main person that deals with visiting my Nan and communicating with Henderson House but when my mum was away on holiday it was up to me to be the go to person.

I cannot thank them enough for listening to my concerns and them being actioned straight away, there is nothing that is to much hassle and I feel like I'm part of one big family. Managing to get my Nan out of her room and along to play bingo as they know she loves it. Thank you for making some tricky times so much easier.

At the beginning of 2025 my family made the very difficult decision to place my mother, who has dementia, in alternative care. My father lives in Dalgety Bay so Henderson House was our first choice. We did much research due to the fact Henderson House is NOT the facility it used to be. The NEW care team from manager to nurses and all the other essential support staff are AMAZING.

My family are so impressed with the team that has been assembled to take care of the elderly with dementia. It is very comforting to us to see their charges, including our mother, well cared for, treated with dignity and affection, all the time being safe. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted with smiles and a cheerful hello. EVERYONE has time to address your concerns and questions. Emails are returned promptly. This is especially important to my sister and myself as neither of us live in the UK anymore.

To the ENTIRE team at Henderson House THANK YOU all for doing such a tremendous job.

My dad has been in Henderson House for over 5 years with dementia, which has been very hard to watch as his daughter. The staff have helped me understand the illness as much as they can, some days are harder than others, but they always take time to sit and talk with me.

The staff at the home take on my dads needs, his room. has all his photographs up of his family and a lot of his individual items, which are all looked after.

Dad spends most of his time in the dining room/lounge, so that he can see what is going on and be involved in what is happening (Nosey) still!

If I have any problems or concerns the staff are always there for me to go to and discuss what is worrying me and then help sort it out. The home is a not just a home it is a large family (Henderson Family). They not only look after their residents they take care to look after family members as well.

Reply from Liam Duncan, Manager at Henderson House Care Home

Thank you for your review and your kind words towards the home, as you said it is not easy seeing dad with his dementia but we are glad that you feel involved in his care and part of the family as we aim to make all feel this way and are very glad after five years you still feel very strongly about Henderson House.

I find that Henderson House listened to all of my mums needs and were able to accommodate her requests. Nothing is too much trouble for all of the staff. Activities are great for my mums wellbeing and always see smiles when I visit. A few weeks ago my mum had a fall when out with me. The way the staff treated the situation was first class when we arrived back from A & E at 23.45hrs staff had been briefed and gave mum excellent care, checking on her every 30 minutes. A fantastic home.

At the start of 2024, we had to take the difficult decision to move Mum into residential care, and she moved into Henderson House 8 months ago. Up until then, she had lived with either myself or my sister for 5 years, and we had hoped that could continue. But it couldn't - and since Mum moved to Henderson House we have had such positive experiences. The staff genuinely care about the residents, Mum is so well looked after and cared for, they really seem to enjoy having her there! We were able to personalise her room, so Mum feels at home with her things around her. And even more than that - the staff show a genuine interest in the lives of her and her family, acknowledging who we all are and the part we still want to play in her life. It is lovely to be able to be her daughter again, rather than her carer, and to enjoy the time we have together. We put our trust in the Care Home Manager and his team, and they have proved themselves, beyond doubt.

My mother became a resident at the beginning of February and the care home and its staff have been absolutely amazing. From the initial contact with the Home Manager, who was so helpful and friendly, to the everyday functioning of the home and care of the residents, it’s been first class. My mother has had a second lease of life moving into the home. She’s loving all the activities, all her new friends and the food! The staff are so proactive in getting the residents to join in and it’s great to see all the photos/videos of them enjoying themselves. It’s brought a huge relief to my brother, as we can now go and spend quality time with my mother whilst she is being so well looked after. All our mother's care is now looked after by the home from doctor, hairdresser, optician, dentist and podiatrist. The rooms are a good size and it’s great you can personalise them and bring in some photos and belongings. We would definitely recommend the home as our experience has been so positive.
