My dad was in Henderson House for 5 weeks it was his first time away from living at home (he's almost 91 years old) and he was made so welcome from the minute he arrived. He was treated with such kindness and formed a bond very quickly will all the staff who treated him with love and respect. I had absolute confidence in them and cannot thank them enough for taking the time to make sure he was okay and for taking the time to get to know him.

Thank you to everyone involved.

What a gem Henderson House Care Home is! It is set in a beautiful location with trees surrounding it. They have a beautiful well-kept garden area with chickens that provide fresh eggs - yum! The staff, nurses and management all have plenty of time to make everyone feel welcome. They have a challenging job to look after our loved ones but do it well with a smile. Not forgetting the rest of the team, cleaners, kitchen staff and hairdressers. Thank you all.

Thank you so much for your amazing review. We are very proud of our garden, which has had the input from our lovely residents and of course our chickens too. We have a brilliant team here and they will be delighted to hear your positive feedback.

From the moment you walk into Henderson House, the welcome is lovely with smiles and a caring hello. All the staff are so ready to listen. The home is immaculately clean and my husband says the food is always tasty. All the staff work very hard to ensure the residents and relatives are comfortable and happy. They also welcome with open arms our puppy cocker spaniel. Can highly recommend it.

My mum resided in the home for 8 months until she passed in March. I spent ten days in Henderson by her side. The staff were all extremely caring and professional, and each and every one of them went above and beyond to ensure my mum's final days were as peaceful, pain-free and loving as they could be.
They were extremely attentive and caring to me, too, and I honestly don't think I would have gotten through that period of time without their kindness, support and love. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It reassured me that my mum had been looked after extremely well whilst she was there, and although I never wanted her to go into a care home, I completely changed my mind during that time.
The staff were exceptional, and I'll never forget how amazing they all were during such a difficult time. My mum's sense of humour remained until the end, thanks to the bond she had with the carers and staff.

Thanks to each and every one of you.

In my experience, my husband could not receive better care from the staff. He has had a difficult time settling into his new surroundings and situation but without exception, he has been shown care, kindness and courtesy. My own transition has been helped by the kindness of the staff. Kindness is a commodity in short supply in today's world, but Henderson House Care Home staff have it in abundance. Thank you.

Staff are generally friendly and helpful I feel very well informed of my mother's health and well-being. I see improvements in the building and garden are being done - smashing. More importantly, I feel my mother is well cared for and I appreciate the difficulty and stresses this placed on staff during Covid and thank the management for their care.

My mother has been a resident for almost three years. Her medical care is excellent. The facilities are being upgraded at this present time and will be beneficial to residents and staff. I always feel most welcome by the admin and nursing staff who are so helpful. I do not always feel welcome by some of the caring staff who have to answer the door at the weekends (with the time it takes under covid regulations) which is fully understandable as visitors are taking them away from their own work.

They then have to leave their work to let visitors out again (which can take quite some time). Hopefully this can be resolved soon. Henderson House has had three managers and now have an interim manager in these three years.

Henderson House Care Home has a caring and supportive ethos. The team of carers, nurses and Admin staff are kind, understanding, accommodating and nothing is any trouble. If I have a worry or concern it is dealt with promptly and professionally with a positive outcome. Staff are friendly and approachable and express love and affection to the residents. There is always plenty going on to entertain and stimulate the residents. My family member feels loved and cared for, now covid restrictions are easing there are plans to improve outdoors which is really exciting.

Henderson House Care Home have been incredibly supportive of my desire to keep in touch with my mum via the Alexa Show. It has enabled myself and my brother to have daily video calls prior to the designated visitors being permitted. I have been able to see how the staff communicate and support her and what lovely manners they all have with her. Now that I am able to visit and cuddle with her I can see she is happy and feels at home with everyone.

We have found the staff to be very helpful and caring. Under the current difficult restrictions we can only comment on the individual room and not the wider facilities. The room is not large but is bright and has everything needed. Pictures and photos from home are put up after they have gone through the sanitation process which helps to make it more personal. All the staff do everything they can to make residents and visitors comfortable.

Reply from Michelle Reid, Regional Manager at Henderson House Care Home

Thank you for your kind review. We understand how difficult these times have been for all our residents and relatives and recognise that sometimes it's the little things that make the difference. We can each identify with the joy that a special photo can bring and the memories that can be shared with family, other residents and staff.

Mum has been resident in Henderson House since June 2020 and has settled in well with the help of the staff. It’s been hard having very restricted visiting and very little communal activity but the team have worked hard to introduce mum to other residents and organise activities outside of her room.
The room is clean and bright with a lovely view of the garden and having some of her own pictures and ornaments has made it feel homely.

Above all, the manager and her team have met the COVID challenges head-on and kept all their residents safe throughout the pandemic. They’ve been slower than other facilities to open up visiting but this has proved to be the right choice of strategy for keeping our relatives safe and well.

My dad is a resident at Henderson House and has been for the last few months. When he entered, the staff took so much time and care to settle him into the care home. They responded to his needs and took time to sit and chat with him to reassure him through this change. They have adapted meals to ensure he is getting a little bit extra - especially when it comes to puddings! As a family, we have been through a very difficult time, and the staff have given us support and advice, which we have greatly appreciated. The home communicates well with families, and we feel very much part of any decisions that need making. We are yet to have an indoor visit, which we greatly look forward to, but we have weekly window visits where staff often take a moment to tell us about some of the things Dad has been up to. The staff have all been working tirelessly to keep all the residents safe and settled during a time when visits from family are very few, and we appreciate all their hard work.

My Dad is a resident at Henderson House. The staff are wonderful and take time to care and have a laugh and chat with my Dad. He tells me how nice the staff are and I see that first hand when I visit. He enjoys meals in the dining room and tells me that he loves the cooked breakfast or eggs in the morning. The home has a lovely large garden for residents' use. The staff made a great effort to make Christmas 2020 special for the residents in a challenging year, including wonderful outdoor garden Christmas decorations, Santa in the garden and carol singing. They have lots of activities for the residents to enjoy which recently included Burns day, Garden birdwatch and making garden bird feeders. The manager and staff are very approachable and keep me well informed. The staff work tirelessly to keep the residents safe, happy and well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Henderson House Care Home for a loved one.

My mum is a resident at Henderson House. She has settled in so well and the staff are absolutely amazing with her. They take the time to not only care for my mum but also interact with her and have a good laugh. She always tells me how lovely and nice everyone is. She also really enjoys the variety of fresh food and said there is always such good choices. I have spoken with not only the manager but also some of the staff and everyone is extremely helpful keeping me updated on mum. I know both the manager and staff are working tirelessly to keep the residents safe and well. Unfortunately, there is no visiting inside just now but the manager and staff are working hard to ensure we can have window visits and facetime calls. I would definitely recommend Henderson House Care Home.

On first visiting Henderson House, I got a good feeling with staff being welcoming and friendly and most importantly, no smell. Mum was originally only there for respite, the staff took time with her to settle her in and after a few months, she decided to stay. On the whole, the food is good, although some of the choices seem a bit strange for older people, at times it is not particularly hot. There have been issues with non-communication on a few occasions when the home has had to close due to infection, and most recently with Covid-19 when Mum hadn’t been told why she was not getting visitors. I am happy that Mum is comfortable and cared for by some hard-working and dedicated carers. Not having been able to visit over the past few months and infrequent telephone conversations with Mum, I am unable to give a more up to date review under the new management.
