My mother has been a resident at the care home for over a year now, and I couldn't be happier with the care she receives. She is comfortable, happy, and very well looked after.
The food is excellent, and the home baking is always a real treat. It's clear that a lot of care and effort goes into making mealtimes enjoyable for the residents.
What stands out most, however, is the staff. I have yet to walk into the home and find anyone who isn't smiling, welcoming, and friendly. Every member of the team treats both residents and the family with kindness, compassion, and respect.

There are far too many wonderful people to mention by name, so I simply want to say a huge thank you to every one of you. Your hard work, dedication, and genuine care mean so much to our family, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

I was wracked with guilt at the thought of having to place my aunt in care but, having done so, it has been the best thing I could've done for her. My aunt was always a fairly timid and nervy person but she has completely come out of her shell and doesn't even ask about her old house. She has made friends among the residents (and staff) and always seems to be smiling which is great to see.

The staff in the home are fabulous across the board and seem to have taken her to their hearts. After what has been a difficult few years for my family, I have peace of mind that my aunt is safe, content and mentally stimulated. I can't recommend Buchanan House highly enough.

Having performed the same kind of search for my mother two times before, our family thought I would be best experienced to look for a care establishment to suit our aunt. I had been to see so many Care Homes, and not seen anything as well-established and well-run as Buchanan House.
The way the staff interact with the residents and how engaged by the activities and happy the residents are, compelled me to move our mum in here too. All the staff are good humoured and kind, gentle and respectful with our mum and our aunt. Needless to say they are both very happy living a much better standard of life now that we didn't think having dementia would afford them. They have both really brightened up and enjoy their lives even if they can't remember what it was they were doing that made them smile.
When my brother asked mum what made her happy there, mum gestured to her Carers and said, "I am happy because all my family's here and we have a good time everyday."

Thank you Buchanan House.

Mum had dementia and needed full time care, the staff were very attentitive to mum and made her feel welcome and most importantly safe. Cannot thank the staff enough for the care given to mum when she was there. She moved in last December and had a full and happy life where she was included in everything, and we were kept up to date on social media updates daily and we felt included in everything she did on a daily basis. Cannot recommend this home enough. They are amazin and it feels like a home and not a building where the residents live! Will miss my visits to mum as we loved our chats with the staff as well as other residents mum used to sit with, thank you all for your support when mum passed away.

My mum lived in Buchanan House for 16 months and was very much loved and care for by all staff. When she moved in arrangements were put in place for all staff to receive training due to mum having a stoma bag allowing staff to support her to maintain independence around this until it became too much.
The entertainment team are great and encourage every resident to get involved. Having nurses on duty at all times is invaluable.
The dignity and respect shown to both mum and ourselves on the day mum passed and the days after was second to none.
The decision to move our mum into full care was extremely hard but the support received from Buchanan House made the transition so much easier.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Buchanan House to anyone looking to move a loved one into full time care.

I feel I found the perfect home for my mum. The staff completely understand her personality and treat her with care, compassion, dignity and humour. Knowing there is medical staff on site has given our family a great sense of ease and we engage regularly and as needed with them. We are kept informed of any updates as necessary and all staff take time to talk when we visit. Buchanan House provides a terrific in-house 4 weekly menu that meets a wide range of tastes and comfort food - which was very important as my mum only likes home cooking.

There is a very wide range of activities that can be accessed - again- catering for different interests. The staff also help my mum to keep in contact with family that live outside of Scotland which helps her to feel connected and secure.

Our Mum was transferred from hospital to Buchanan House on Boxing Day, following a severe stroke in September. The transition could not have been smoother and the staff more welcoming to Mum and us from that day onwards. The care Mum received was exceptional and every member of staff went above and beyond to make Mum as comfortable as possible. Mum needed full nursing care and this was given in the most caring and dignified way. We, as a family, were met with smiling faces by the staff every time we visited, and were made to feel very much at home at Buchanan House.
Sadly, Mum passed away after being in the care home for 7 weeks and we cannot thank the staff enough for the care they gave her in those final weeks. We, as a family, feel we are leaving behind friends now that we are no longer visiting Buchanan House.

In Mum's final hours and minutes the staff showed such compassion and sensitivity to her and to all of us as a family. We cannot recommend the home highly enough.

The nursing team (very important) were excellent with my mum and kept me and my sister up to date with all concerning health.

My mum was 95 when she passed away on 9/12/25 and she hand probs a better experience/EXCELLENT than I expected as I had never for 19 years experienced any Care Home. Thanks

Buchanan House has been amazing for my mum with advanced dementia. We kept mum at home as long as we could and when we couldn't do it anymore, Buchanan House was there for us. My mum is no longer verbal or mobile but is comfortable and clean and as happy as she can be. Our family couldn't be happier with the care they provide and the kindness of the staff is unmatched. We are just so appreciative.

My Dad was transferred from hospital to Buchanan House Care Home for 'end of life care' in July 2024. He died almost exactly a year later having celebrated his 90th birthday together with friends and family, gained weight due to the nutritious and delicious meals and snacks he was given, and after making friends with other residents and staff. He took part in all the seasonal celebrations including Valentines Day, St. Andrews Day and Burns Night, in talks, and sing-a-longs, was out in the mini-bus and with us in our car (with the help, and determination of the staff team). He listened to book readings and music of his choice in his own room and took a liking for 'balloon badminton and skittles in the lounge (as we did!) As a family we will always be grateful to all the staff who cared for and about him - they were proactive, compassionate and ready to think 'out of the box' when we approached them. But most of all we thank them for their kindness and warmth to Dad, and to us as a family.

My father moved in to Buchanan House Care Home in November this year, after suffering a major stroke. The care home is located well for us, as we live in the local area. Since moving my father in, the staff have made the transition so smoothly. The staff are amazing at what the do, two staff members who are the activities coordinators, are really well suited for the job, and the fun they put into everything, is so good to see. The food is fantastic, freshly cooked. The team are overall fantastic, nothing is a an issue, and they work very hard, and make a lovely home environment for all. Thank you.

My mum was an emergency admission after a rapid deterioration of her health. Buchanan House staff were very helpful in the administration of her admission and came out to visit her in her flat.

The home was very welcoming and always seemed clean and well organised, and the staff have been excellent in settling Mum in. Every time we visit, Mum is never sitting in her room by herself. We have seen a marked improvement in her speech, which we think is due to the constant stimulation. The lounge/TV area is never over-busy or overwhelming and feels quite homely. It's good for visiting, and there is a private separate area if required for visits. Mum seems well looked after, the food seems good, and the staff are very friendly. Already she has had her hair and nails done twice and taken part in several activities, including a visit to the transport museum. The main thing for us is that she is now safe, especially at night, and there seems to be plenty of staff about to keep an eye on her.
