The staff at Buchanan House provide a warm, caring and nurturing environment.
Rooms are decorated to a high standard with beautiful furnishings.
They have an excellent entertainment programme for residents which is so appreciated especially during these challenging times.

This home has the most amazing team of nurses and carers. My mum was admitted in September and it was such a lovely experience for her. She got involved in the various activities and made friends quickly. She never asked about "going home", which is really what you want when someone you love can no
longer look after themselves. The staff were happy to answer any questions or concerns and never made you feel you were wasting time. I can honestly say that the staff became my mum's family. During these Covid times, that is what you want when you can't be there in person. My mum passed away at the end of December, we know the staff were with her and we take comfort in that. They kept my mum well presented, even putting on nail polish, I know she felt really special. If I ever have to go into a home, I hope it's one like this!

I can not recommend Buchanan House highly enough. Mum was admitted just when our society was changing with Covid 19. The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and sensitive to both Mum and ourselves knowing that we had to quickly settle Mum and then walk away not knowing when we might see her again
face to face. Our family are impressed by and thankful for both the facility and especially the staff and the standard of care given. They provide excellent communication and have been more than helpful in facilitating me being in touch with Mum since I live in Canada.

I have been delighted with the care my mother has received since arriving at Buchanan House. The staff are always smiling and giving the residents lots of personal attention. The rooms are kept immaculately clean and tidy, the laundry is very efficient.

Having reflected on our initial experience and discussed these with staff, it has become clear to me that any initial miscommunication was down to a variety of factors out of the control of staff.
References to scoring in relation to value for money, is reflective of the costs of the wider care system

We chose Buchanan House for our 92 year old mum, having found it a friendly welcoming place at our initial visit, and have certainly not been disappointed. The care is excellent and the staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble and Mum, who needs a fair bit of nursing care, is treated with kindness
and respect. Her room is cosy and she enjoys lovely meals. Her visitors are made to feel welcome and offered tea/coffee and cakes. Mum particularly enjoys her weekly visit to the residents’ hair salon.
All in all, we feel the care and surroundings Buchanan House offers has smoothed the daunting experience of moving into “care” for our mum and made it an enjoyable experience, and we are very grateful for that.

I find Buchanan House very airy, friendly and welcoming. The staff all seem to enjoy being with the patients and are always cheerful and active, or have been whenever I have visited. There is life in the place and the TV is not always on! Being only an occasional visitor, I can't comment on all the

Dad is usually well looked after and appears happy, which is the main thing. The staff are very accommodating and cheery and able to talk to Dad and help if we want to see rugby together or come in at all times. Thank you for everything you do.

My Mum moved to Buchanan House earlier this year form another care home. The difference in Mum's health is remarkable and as a family, the home for us means we now have peace of mind regarding Mum's care. Cannot speak more highly of the staff.

Staff are always very attentive, happy to help and keep things interesting by planning activities and events for service users. The care of my grandfather is always of a high standard. Staff always take complaints and suggestions seriously and are dealt with in a timely manner.

Both my gran and grampa have been residents at Buchanan Care Home. I couldn't praise the place enough. The staff are amazing and attentive to the residents. The home has a lovely homely feel to it.
The entertainment is amazing and I am so thankful my gran and gampa have had this experience in their
later years. The effort all the staff put in is amazing and makes for a wonderful place to stay for my family.

An excellent care home. Residents are treated with respect, dignity and care. The staff are excellent and all very caring. My mum has become a happier, calmer and well cared for person. I am happy that she has found somewhere she feels so at home in a short space of time.
I would not hesitate to recommend
this care home to anyone.

It has been a very good choice for both my mum and dad. The care is excellent and the activities are always creative. Dad is as happy as he can be although he wanted to stay at home. This is the next best thing. The Summer Garden party was great.

Very happy with husband's care as I could no longer manage at home.
Although husband's condition changes/deteriorates and I know he can be difficult to manage. All staff are constantly on watch for his needs and behaviour changes.
Our daughter and son and friends visit regularly and are always made
welcome.

This being my first visit to my Mum since arriving here. My first impression is good. Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Most important is that my Mum likes the staff and the home as well. Showers in the resident's rooms would make the whole experience much better for residents.

Friendly, inviting, the atmosphere on entering the home. Home communal areas and personal area always clean and tidy.
Staff welcoming and helpful, Always accommodating.
No matter when we visit my elderly mother, she is always up and in the communal lounge, dressed in clean and appropriate clothing
that she would have approved of herself.
We were very thankful for all the help the staff gave to my mother when she had to go to hospital, going with her and staying till we arrived.

Originally from Ireland, I bring over four decades of experience in nursing, with 41 years dedicated to the profession. I am dual-trained in both adult and mental health nursing, and have spent my career working across a wide range of healthcare settings.


Over the years, I’ve held roles in both the NHS and private healthcare sectors, gaining extensive knowledge and insight into patient care and clinical leadership. For the past 10 years, I have served as a Home Manager, combining my clinical expertise with management skills to ensure high standards of care and compliance.


My career reflects a lifelong commitment to supporting individuals’ health and well-being with compassion and professionalism.

My name is Karyn and I am the dedicated Activities Coordinator at Buchanan House. I have worked at the home for 17 years, the first 12 years as a care assistant, developing trust with residents and families and then the last 5 years as Activities Coordinator, planning engaging person centred programmes to ensure every resident feels valued, stimulated, and connected. I see activities as much more important than “just something to do” as it plays a vital role in residents’ quality of life.
