Staff are always very attentive, happy to help and keep things interesting by planning activities and events for service users. The care of my grandfather is always of a high standard. Staff always take complaints and suggestions seriously and are dealt with in a timely manner.
The entertainment is amazing and I am so thankful my gran and gampa have had this experience in their later years. The effort all the staff put in is amazing and makes for a wonderful place to stay for my family.
I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone.
It has been a very good choice for both my mum and dad. The care is excellent and the activities are always creative. Dad is as happy as he can be although he wanted to stay at home. This is the next best thing. The Summer Garden party was great.
Although husband's condition changes/deteriorates and I know he can be difficult to manage. All staff are constantly on watch for his needs and behaviour changes.
Our daughter and son and friends visit regularly and are always made welcome.
This being my first visit to my Mum since arriving here. My first impression is good. Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Most important is that my Mum likes the staff and the home as well. Showers in the resident's rooms would make the whole experience much better for residents.
Thank you for your positive review on our home, it is great to hear how well your Mum has settled in here at Buchanan House and that you'd recommend our home to others. Your comments regarding showers will be passed onto the team and reviewed. Thanks again for your feedback, this helps us further improve the service we provide.
Staff welcoming and helpful, Always accommodating.
No matter when we visit my elderly mother, she is always up and in the communal lounge, dressed in clean and appropriate clothing that she would have approved of herself.
We were very thankful for all the help the staff gave to my mother when she had to go to hospital, going with her and staying till we arrived.
Thank you for your positive comments, we are pleased to hear that you found the atmosphere at Buchanan House to be 'friendly' and 'inviting'. The team will be touched to hear your lovely feedback. Thanks again, best wishes to you and your family.
My dad likes his room and is happy.

Their personal care and relationship has grown and made a huge difference to the distress that my aunt experienced as her dementia developed.
The previous care home could not achieve this.
Thank you for your positive review, we're pleased to hear what a wonderful relationship our team have built with your Aunt and how much of a positive impact it has made. Our team are passionate about providing the highest standard of care and are an asset to Buchanan House.
I have no complaints but I tend not to recommend to others as everyone has their opinion.
Many thanks for your positive review for our home, the team will be pleased to hear your feedback.
The care I received from all staff was exemplary. I was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The food was excellent, plentiful and nutritious - if the choices did not appeal, chef would willingly make something different. The entertainments provided for residents and their families were well received and enjoyed by all. The whole package was expertly run by an extremely capable management team. Buchanan House should be held up as a model for care homes throughout the country to aspire to.
What a wonderful review to read, many thanks for your comments. At Buchanan House, we pride ourselves on the high level of service we provide, which includes our dining experience, as we believe food is an important aspect of our care. Our Magic Moments Club offers a fun and varied activity...
Staff make the home. Cannot praise them enough. The home is very clean and presented well. Attention and care are very good. Good dining experience.

Staff are very kind, patient and helpful. The care home is clean, comfortable and there are plenty of activities going on.
My relative particularly enjoys the food.
The latter comment only refers to the amount of time we see management staff which is minimal and to be expected (it is not a criticism).
Thank you for your positive comments about our home, it is great how happy you are with the service we provide. Our home manager has an open door policy, so please feel free to pop in for a chat on your next visit to the home if there's anything you'd like to discuss.
All members of staff are professional, polite and compassionate to the residents.
Thank you for your lovely comments about the team and environment.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
My brother has only been here 4 weeks and every time I visit I have been impressed with the care and friendliness of the staff.
Buchanan House is very family friendly, there are activities residents and family can enjoy. My dad needed nursing care and I could not fault the care and attention Dad gets. Food is also very good, with great choice. Carers are kind and thoughtful and took the time to get to know Dad.
Today I attended the pop-up bar with my mum, just one of the fantastic events laid on by the team. There is always something going on to put a smile on everyone's face!
Mum is so happy here, safe and well cared for.
A really good place of care which has helped my dad come back to health and good spirits after the death of my mum, and his partner of over 60 years. He is well-nourished, well cared for and in good health mentally, as well as physically. His regular health checks have helped him with dentistry and his hearing, which gives him more contact with people around him. And he has the social life of the home.

I am Kathleen, the dedicated Home Manager for Buchanan House Care Home.
Originally from Ireland, I bring over four decades of experience in nursing, with 41 years dedicated to the profession. I am dual-trained in both adult and mental health nursing, and have spent my career working across a wide range of healthcare settings.
Over the years, I’ve held roles in both the NHS and private healthcare sectors, gaining extensive knowledge and insight into patient care and clinical leadership. For the past 10 years, I have served as a Home Manager, combining my clinical expertise with management skills to ensure high standards of care and compliance.
My career reflects a lifelong commitment to supporting individuals’ health and well-being with compassion and professionalism.

“I believe good administration is about more than paperwork -it's about being approachable, helpful, ready to support whenever needed and helping to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued”

My name is Karyn and I am the dedicated Activities Coordinator at Buchanan House. I have worked at the home for 17 years, the first 12 years as a care assistant, developing trust with residents and families and then the last 5 years as Activities Coordinator, planning engaging person centred programmes to ensure every resident feels valued, stimulated, and connected. I see activities as much more important than “just something to do” as it plays a vital role in residents’ quality of life.

“I hope that I provide everyone who walks through our door with compassionate assistance and help ensure the day-to-day running of the home is smooth. I am a great believer in attention to detail, as our residents deserve a warm, supportive, and organised environment".

“ I have good clinical skills, and my calm presence hopefully reassures residents and their families that they will receive the care they need. I like to think that I am a supportive colleague who is willing to share knowledge and contribute positively to the workplace culture”

“I have a deep passion for elderly care and take great pride in creating meaningful connections with my residents and their families.
For some, caring for others is their profession; for me, it’s my calling”

Graeme has a strong understanding of dietary requirements in care settings and has 20 plus years of experience in preparing balanced, nutritious and flavourful meals for residents

Gary, our maintenance manager, has a key role in maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for our residents.
