Buchanan Lodge Care Home, providing residential, nursing, dementia and respite care aims to enable each resident to make the most of every day by offering an active and friendly environment.

Located in Bearsden, Glasgow, the building was originally a convent building but has been sympathetically converted with residents' care and comfort in mind. Residents benefit from a varied activities programme, which includes everything from music and movement classes to quizzes and concerts to make each day fun and interesting.

The care my Dad receives is excellent from all of the staff. His best interests are taken into account, since the day he became a resident. Majority of the time my Dad seems very settled in his new 'den'. He is included in activities, which he really enjoys, when he's in a settled mood. He struggles
to find the words to describe what he sees or is trying to tell us. On occasions it can be quite frustrating for him. I guess that's is dementia progressing for him.
The care staff do a wonderful job of making sure my Dad is comfortable, and treat him with such dignity.
Many many thanks to all of the staff. It's so comforting to know how well my Dad is being cared for.

The facilities are not as modern as some, but this alone a misguided judgement. While the building is older and the facilities less modern (but entirely adequate and very clean), the jewel is the care; atmosphere and natural homely feel. Care is the cornerstone of the service. The care and attention
is exceptional and friendly with professional nursing. I can commend this and the quality of the home-made food with home baking and a varied menu. The kitchen is very good. All staff make this a kind, homely place. The manager and her team have thought carefully about care and the behind-the-scenes effort is well planned and executed. Mum was well looked after and had lots of engagement and company. Residents are encouraged to be out their rooms and can be involved in trips away or in house activities. Residents enjoy interaction and a little sun in the open spaces outside. Staff are informative and supportive of personal care package need and reviews. Access and visiting is welcoming.

Buchanan Lodge Care Home was the best out of the many care homes we looked into at the end of 2024 in the Glasgow area at this price range.
The setting is peaceful, the grounds and buildings are beautiful, clean and cosy. It's exactly the sort of place that contributes to a sense of wellness and calm
for our dad who has been progressing with his dementia. In fact he has shown signs of improvement since moving to Buchanan Lodge from his previous care home.
The staff have been amazing - from the carers and nurses making sure that dad has the best possible set-up in his room and looking after his daily care, to the administrators and management who made the whole process of moving dad in seamless. You can tell that they are all very professional and personally care about their jobs. It's very easy to communicate any questions or concerns you have with them and they take those very seriously.
I know dad is in the best possible place at Buchanan Lodge :)

My cousin recently passed away but before that she spent 3 happy years being cared for in Buchanan Lodge. It's a friendly happy place to live and all the staff take good care of the residents. They feel more like family. In particular the activities co-ordinators organise a busy diary of events which
are enjoyed regularly.

Very pleased with the care and attention my mother receives from all staff. The amount and selection of activities is super and the activity coordinators are very in tune with who can participate and will enjoy each one.

My mother has been a resident in the care home for a year now. She has always been bright and happy in mood when visiting her. The personal care she receives is very good she always appears clean, hair and nails are always attended to clothes are clean and appropriate. You can see her smiling when she
recognises staff who attend to her. Staff are very professional and seem happy to be working at Buchanan Lodge. So this in itself makes you feel safe leaving your loved one there. I've also noticed that the domestic staff acknowledge clients and visitors, which is also reassuring. On the medical side, the care is also good. My mum has got some ongoing health issues and these have been addressed by the home. On the downside, I feel the home is far too hot in the summer months. When visiting it can be noisy at times and there is nowhere to sit unless it's in Mum's room. If another room was available that would be good, also I feel a sensory room would be welcomed by many clients.

My mother was admitted to the care home just under a year ago. We are delighted with the standard of care and support that is given to my mother at Buchanan Lodge Care Home. The staff team are friendly, caring and supportive. The ethos of the home is exceptional making it feel homely and welcoming.
A huge positive of the home are the wide range of activities and varied calendar of events that they put on throughout the year for both residents and relatives. They put a great deal of hard work and effort into this. The addition of the vintage tearoom is wonderful and allows larger groups of family and friends to meet with residents in an attractive space. With regard to my relative's health and wellbeing, the home also provides access to a wide range of agencies. We hope the good work continues.

My mother is so happy and it is great to see she has put weight on with the lovely food she is having. The staff are lovely and great she gets involved in activities, which she really enjoys. The activities over the Christmas period were fabulous and great that families were encouraged to be involved.
