Buchanan Lodge Care Home, providing residential, nursing, dementia and respite care aims to enable each resident to make the most of every day by offering an active and friendly environment.

Located in Bearsden, Glasgow, the building was originally a convent building but has been sympathetically converted with residents' care and comfort in mind. Residents benefit from a varied activities programme, which includes everything from music and movement classes to quizzes and concerts to make each day fun and interesting.

I happened to be in visiting my friend unplanned visit and was delighted to find there was an Easter Bonnet parade on. It was absolutely lovely, laughter, games tea and cakes. We had a really lovely time together along with everyone else. I was made to feel really welcome by all the staff. I can't thank
them enough for a lovely memory for my friend and I to have.

I feel that the staff have met my dad's needs in all areas. He is well cared for and there is always a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble. There is always a range of activities for residents to take part in and it's varied and stimulating. Staff are always there to talk to and
answer questions. As a family, we have peace of mind that my dad is so well cared for.

My mother has been here for 6 months and has generally been very settled and happy. I find the staff very friendly and I feel the care and support given to Mum has been very good after a short stay in the hospital. Overall I am very happy.

The care home is clean, tidy and there is a good atmosphere.

I like Buchanan Lodge because of its cosy home from home size and staff not too far away. Staff are lovely and helpful. Lots of entertainment.
Visits from local churches and ladies groups and the nursery children pop in. They celebrate all events.

My mother-in-law has only been in the home since Friday (5 days) but every visit I see the same staff who are all very caring.
My mother-in-law says the food is very good.
Today, an audiologist came in to measure for new hearing aids, she has been in many homes and she remarked how lovely this one
is.

Buchanan Lodge provides a friendly caring environment for my Mum who has dementia. They ensure her safety at all times. They ensure her social, physical and nutritional needs are met. They ensure she is dressed to a high standard and that her hair and nails are done on a weekly basis.

I was in to see my mum on Christmas day and she has been in Buchanan Lodge for over 10 years so I have got to know the staff over the years - the effort and spread of food for Christmas lunch was fantastic and it is a credit to all the staff who were in giving up their Christmas day - these people are
a dedicated bunch of professionals and I can say nothing but good things about them - I would highly recommend Buchanan Lodge to anyone!!

My mother has been a resident at Buchanan Lodge Care Home for over a year now and we as a family have always found the home and staff to be very welcoming. One of the first things that we noticed - or should I say did not notice was the normal smell of urine that I have come to expect when visiting
care homes as a contractor. We found that this was a welcome item that was missing and it has continued like this throughout mums stay (apart from times when obviously residents are being taken to toilets or first thing in the morning.)


The home has recently been redecorated with new chairs in the general lounge area. The staff are all very friendly and approachable and treat the residents with dignity - even when being subjected to some unfriendly moves from some residents at times.
With regards to costs, we find the costs quite steep but on a par with most other local homes.

Buchannan lodge has been a great home for my sister. Plenty of daily activities, hairdresser on a Wednesday and weekly outings. The staff are lovely and the activities coordinator is great. The only downside is the rooms which are in need of an overhaul. Would recommend to friends and family.

I cannot fault the staff. They are brilliant with my Dad and have so much patience. His room is poor as this needs redecorated but I believe this is happening soon. He is very relaxed and happy there and I know he is being taken care of very well which puts my mind at ease. Nearly £3000 a month though
is a bit steep.

I repeat my disappointment at being forced to pay an unexpected £500 "admin fee" after Mother was admitted.
I consider that the £1000 room and nursing fees should cover any "back office" expenses.

The home provides a safe, caring environment for my mum. The home is always clean and the staff friendly, efficient and helpful. When mum took ill, the quick action of the staff contributed to Mum receiving life-saving treatment. During convalescence, the staff have been very supportive and caring.
