The staff are very nice and friendly though in short supply sometimes as my mum has to wait a while when she needs to go to the toilet.

Overall the care is very good.

I cannot fault the staff. They are brilliant with my Dad and have so much patience. His room is poor as this needs redecorated but I believe this is happening soon. He is very relaxed and happy there and I know he is being taken care of very well which puts my mind at ease. Nearly £3000 a month though is a bit steep.

I repeat my disappointment at being forced to pay an unexpected £500 "admin fee" after Mother was admitted.

I consider that the £1000 room and nursing fees should cover any "back office" expenses.

Thank you for your feedback, which has helped us change our systems to make sure every family is aware and understands the Terms & Conditions of Residency before admission. We are very grateful that you raised this with us.

The home provides a safe, caring environment for my mum. The home is always clean and the staff friendly, efficient and helpful. When mum took ill, the quick action of the staff contributed to Mum receiving life-saving treatment. During convalescence, the staff have been very supportive and caring.

My mother was a resident in Buchanan Lodge Care Home for almost 6 years and considered it to be her home. The care and compassion given by all members of staff were praiseworthy and the attention given to my mother and the family in the last week of her life was above first class.
The home runs a varied programme of events, concerts, outings etc and the residents all thoroughly enjoyed participating.
When visiting the home it was obvious to me that the staff morale was high and with a low turnover of staff this created a caring environment for the residents.

I have no hesitation in recommending Buchanan Lodge Care Home as an excellent care provider.

Care home is warm and friendly. I find all the staff committed to their job.

Laundry could be organised a bit better, other than that, my mother is looked after 24/7 which I know we would not manage at home.

Reply from Tessa Matthews, Marketing Manager at Buchanan Lodge Care Home

Review from Eileen L (Cousin of Resident) published on 3 March 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I found staff at this care home caring compassionate and extremely competent. They cared for my cousin during a very difficult period and were thoroughly professional throughout. I would go so far as to say they went that extra mile that made an enormous difference to the quality of life my cousin experienced. Comfortable and homely surroundings with varied menu offerings as well as many extras included. The activities coordinator is a treasure but all staff played their role to the highest standards. Have no hesitation in recommending this to others.
