Job summary

We are looking for an experienced cook to join our team and someone who can cook traditional dishes and knows how to bake for our elderly residents aged 65 and over in our 63 bedded care home with nursing.

We are looking for a cook who can provide freshly homemade meals for our residents. Our menu is geared to meet the dietary requirements for all of our residents ensuring meals are provided to a high standard which are freshly prepared every day to ensure a balanced and nutritional diet.

Responsibilities:

• Able to plan, organise and control kitchen operations to ensure the food quality, presentation and service are provided to the appropriate standards.
• Ensure good presentation, cooking and portioning of meals to required standards as well as ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen.
• Have a good knowledge of different dietary requirements ie diabetic food, fortified diets and snack.(Training can be given in this area)
• Responsible for checking stock levels and ordering as and when required in line with budget
• To maintain a clean kitchen and complete cleaning record documentation as required.
• To complete all other kitchen tasks such as the recording of fridge / freezer temperature
• To attend and participate in staff meetings and attend all mandatory training when required

You must have experience in this type of role and be reliable and trustworthy.

The candidate must hold a Food and Hygiene certificate

This position will be subject to an enhanced DBS and references, and will start as soon as registration paperwork is completed.
