The Role

As our Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance duties throughout the home and grounds, ensuring that the building and equipment are kept in good working order and comply with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks throughout the home.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and report any defects or hazards.
  • Maintain the home’s grounds, including minor gardening and external upkeep.
  • Perform basic plumbing, decorating, carpentry, and electrical repairs where appropriate.
  • Ensure all maintenance records and documentation are completed accurately.
  • Liaise with external contractors and supervise their work when required.
  • Assist with moving furniture and setting up rooms as needed.
  • Support the management team in maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for residents, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Participate in planned preventative maintenance programmes.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or handyman role.
  • Good practical skills across a range of maintenance disciplines.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • A friendly, approachable manner and a genuine respect for older people.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to help where needed.
