The Role
As our Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and appetising meals for residents and staff.
- Cater for special dietary requirements, allergies, and individual preferences.
- Develop varied and seasonal menus in consultation with residents and management.
- Ensure all food is prepared and served to a high standard.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness in line with current regulations.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food and kitchen supplies.
- Ensure food is stored, handled, and labelled correctly.
- Work within budget while minimising food waste.
- Maintain accurate records relating to food safety, temperatures, and cleaning schedules.
- Support a positive dining experience and contribute to residents' overall wellbeing.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef, preferably within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment.
- A passion for preparing fresh, nutritious, and high-quality meals.
- Good knowledge of food safety legislation and hygiene standards.
- Ability to cater for a range of dietary requirements.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A caring and friendly approach, with an understanding of the importance of mealtimes for older people.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) desirable.
