About Us

At Buckingham Care Home, we understand the important role that good food plays in the health, wellbeing, and happiness of our residents. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef to join our team and provide nutritious, delicious, and varied meals in a caring and supportive environment.

The Role

As our Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and appetising meals for residents and staff.
• Cater for special dietary requirements, allergies, and individual preferences.
• Develop varied and seasonal menus in consultation with residents and management.
• Ensure all food is prepared and served to a high standard.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness in line with current regulations.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food and kitchen supplies.
• Ensure food is stored, handled, and labelled correctly.
• Work within budget while minimising food waste.
• Maintain accurate records relating to food safety, temperatures, and cleaning schedules.
• Support a positive dining experience and contribute to residents' overall wellbeing.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Chef, preferably within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment.
• A passion for preparing fresh, nutritious, and high-quality meals.
• Good knowledge of food safety legislation and hygiene standards.
• Ability to cater for a range of dietary requirements.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A caring and friendly approach, with an understanding of the importance of mealtimes for older people.
• Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) desirable.
