Executive Director of the National Care Forum Des Kelly OBE joined dignitaries and professionals to celebrate the official opening of a stunning new Sanctuary Care home in Birmingham.
Castlecroft Residential Care Home, in the heart of Weoley Castle, officially opened its doors on Wednesday 3 July. The honour of cutting the ribbon was that of the home’s first ever resident Mary Pemberton, 91.
The Castle Road home has been built to an incredibly high specification by leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group and will be managed by Sanctuary Care. The home will provide residential and dementia care to people in a warm and homely environment.
Des Kelly is Executive Director of the National Care Forum, the leading membership organisation for not-for-profit care providers in the UK. Following the home’s opening, he said: “It is the first time I’ve been invited to officially open a care home so I’m delighted to be here.
“The key to providing high quality care and support is having staff who have strong relationships with residents, their family and friends and with the local community. Castlecroft is a wonderful example of this working in practise and I am sure it will only strengthen as the home welcomes more new residents.”
The home is also opening its doors to members of the public this Sunday (7 July) to give people a sneak preview and the opportunity to see first-hand the fantastic range of services manager Karen Keen and her dedicated team can provide.
Castlecroft has 64 en-suite bedrooms, a hairdressing salon, spacious lounges and dining areas, as well as beautiful landscaped gardens, which have raised flower beds for residents to enjoy a spot of light gardening.
On the official opening Pam Brown, Sanctuary Care’s Regional Director, said: “We were honoured to have someone who is so passionate about high quality care with us to declare our stunning new home open.
“It’s lovely to have our first resident here – Mary is already settling into her new home. I believe that Castlecroft will be a real asset to the community and look forward to welcoming more residents to the home and seeing how they will thrive in this wonderful environment.”
