The team at Hillside care home in Sudbury were celebrating this week as they received top marks in their latest unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Following a review of the inspection process in recent years, six key areas of the care provided at the home were inspected including staffing, training, safety and residents’ welfare.
Staff at the Kings Hill Road home, which is part of the family-owned Caring Homes Group, have achieved the highest possible levels of compliance having met the required standards in all of the above areas.
As part of the process, the CQC inspectors spoke to a number of residents and their relatives and the report quotes one resident as saying ‘I absolutely love it here, I only came in for a fortnight but I loved so much I stayed. They made me so happy, it is so homely here and the food is good, it is like a top restaurant.’
Home manager, Deborah Mason, explained some of the secrets to the home’s success:
‘My team are so committed to providing the very best care they can for our residents. It’s at the heart of everything we do and we are delighted that the CQC inspection has recognised this.
‘The Caring Homes group has a longstanding ethos of quality and I am so proud of my team for their effort in providing and maintaining a high standard of support for those who live here at Hillside.’
Located in the village of Great Cornard near Sudbury, Hillside provides residential care for up to 44 elderly ladies and gentlemen. The home is run by the family-owned Caring homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
