Some of our ladies at Stocks Hall Care Home in Burscough told cancer "were coming to get you" at a fundraising event, Race for Life, held at Aintree Race Course, Liverpool. They were 'in the pink' and ready to go.

Race for Life is the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK. They hold a series of 5k and 10k events which help raise money to beat all 200 types of cancer.

Speaking on behalf of Stocks Hall Burscough Belles, staff member, Denise Corvan said "It’s a charity very close to our hearts and this is the second time we have taken part. It was a fabulous day and the sun was shining. Everyone entered in to the spirit and this was a great end to our 'pink week'. We were thrilled to have raised just over £500 for cancer research and would like to thank everyone for their support."

The Home made colossal efforts by fundraising all week and really went to town to raise funds for such a vital cause.

Sam Potter, Operational Manager at Stocks Hal said, “We thank and congratulate everyone at Stocks Hall Burscough who has taken part in Race for Life, it’s a great achievement and testimony to how kind and caring our staff are.”

The Burscough Belles, made up of Burscough staff colleagues, included Kath Hands, Jean McCann, Jeanette Skyner, Denise Corvan, Mel Innes, Linda Ollerton, April Salinas and Sonya Hales who’s son Ole and her mum Fran ran alongside the Burscough Belles.

The Burscough Belles later celebrated their achievement together with a meal, refreshments and toast!
