A home for people with learning disabilities and complex needs has been shortlisted for a prestigious Laing Buisson award for Supported Living. Redan Street, Ipswich, houses nine people with Autism spectrum conditions and Aspergers, and gives them the ability to live as independent a life as possible.

Redan Street supports nine individuals in four flats and has been nominated thanks to the hardworking team and their dedication to improve the quality of life of each supported individual. Core teams have enabled individuals to develop stronger positive relationships with support workers and families, and have taken part in leisure and education activities within the wider community.

Melany Castillo, Home Manager, Redan Street, says: “Our team is passionate about helping individuals to make the most of their lives. Redan Street is a dedicated supported living service, designed to meet the needs of people living with complex needs, and we’re proud of what we achieve here.”

She continued: “I would also like to thank my team for working so hard over the past twelve months, being shortlisted for a national award is amazing recognition.”

Redan Street is part of Consensus, a family-owned service provider that has nearly 90 services across England, Wales and Scotland. Founded in 2005 by Paul and Helena Jeffery, of the renowned Caring Homes Group, Consensus was established to provide specialist support to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

The winners of the Laing Buisson Awards will be announced at a gala awards evening on 11 November at the Lancaster Hotel, London.
