The whole staffing team at Whittington House are fabulous! They are all professional, caring, friendly and supportive to both the resident and their family. Residents enjoy being with staff who have an encouraging manner to enable residents to access the many things on offer at the home, enjoy lovely
meals, and receive considerate, professional care. The resident is the central focus of all they do. The resident rooms are bright and spacious, providing a private sanctuary when residents wish to rest or have time to themselves.

My elderly mother arrived after a sudden hospital admission. All staff united to welcome, settle and respect her as a person, a resident and community member. Adjusting to new routines, environments and faces is hugely demanding for those living with dementia but at The Manor we received best-in-class
transition advice and service. Each member of team from management to housekeeping knew mum, her preferences and circumstances from day 1. We have all been welcomed and embedded in life there.

My father suffered from dementia and after having many falls we were advised by paramedics that he should go in a home. It is very daunting but when I visited the care home my worries ceased to exist. I was made to feel very welcome and the kindness that I was shown was very welcome. After dad went
into the home he was well looked after and they understood his needs. As dad's dementia worsened they adapted to his decline and kept me informed with any health worries. The home treated my father and I with kindness and respect and were very patient always willing to have a chat.

Thank you for caring for my mother during the last few months of her life. Your nursing staff were diligent in caring for her and she felt safe and comfortable while with you. Mum had plenty of visitors while she was there and they were all complementary about the standard of the home, reassuring me
I had made the best choice for her. Sadly, because of her illness, she was unable to take part in many of the activities on offer, but I know she enjoyed mealtimes and it was good to see her appetite return. Once again, thank you for looking after her.

Cotman House

from Jan L (Respite Resident) published on 28 April 2026

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
I recently spent a week's respite in Cotman House following knee replacement surgery, as there was no one at home to look after me.
I found all the staff, from cleaner, kitchen staff, carers nurses and admin extremely helpful, friendly, caring and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful,
varied, tasty, nutritious and mostly of excellent quality.
I was very impressed with the activities planned every single morning and afternoon. I only managed to attend 2 - the Silver Swans Ballet class, which I loved, and the Beetle Drive. From what I saw, the activities were well supported, and planned by an enthusiastic, lively team.
Although I wasn't able to make use of the garden, partly due to my mobility and partly because of the weather, the garden looked lovely and well tended.
When I have my other knee replaced, I wont hesitate to book into Cotman House, - that is if there's space and they'll have me!!!

Benson House

from Susan F (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mother has been a resident of Benson House since the summer of 2025. We are especially pleased with the level of kindness and helpfulness of the staff. The cleanliness of her room and common areas and the good food, including High Teas with delicious cakes, mean that Mum is very happy both with her
room and her care. The activities are varied and she enjoys joining in with everything including Balloon Badminton, seated exercises and lots of singing. However, if she wants a break and some peace and quiet then there are plenty of places she can just sit and watch the world go by. Whenever she has needed medical attention the local GP, working with the care home staff, visits her, and gives a level of care that affords us all peace of mind.
The local church includes the home with visits and services, which is very inclusive and uplifting. Its lovely that whatever time we are able to visit, we are made to feel part of the community too.
A big thank you to you all.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Dad has been in Homefield Grange for almost 6 months now and is very settled. The level of care is excellent and we are so grateful for the love and kindness shown to him. He was extremely agitated before he came in, but he is so much calmer now in the lovely, peaceful atmosphere. He has always been
a very proud man and the staff treat him with such dignity, tending to all his needs. He's always been known for his stubbornness and can get grumpy! - but all the staff manage him beautifully and he often introduces the lovely staff to us as his "very good friends" when we visit. It's so sad that he is suffering from Dementia but we can now take comfort that he is safe and cared for within this lovely Home. Thankyou Homefield Grange.

The staff were kind and helpful although some seemed to require better training . I had to ask on several occasions for my water jug to be refilled this should have been done twice a day My room was comfortable and the furniture was in keeping it was nice to have a fridge. A bedside light would have
been appreciated as I found the centre chandelier too bright.
The food was not acceptable as what was written on the menu was often not what was produced . Often cold and the chef / cooks had no idea what ingredients are required to make certain meals and presentation poor also lack of green vegetables . There must be a great deal of food wasted. Considering I was visited in hospital and asked what I like to eat you couldn't even provide natural yogurt. Frankly the hospital food was better.

I am very happy to have found Benson House Care home. It is warm, luxurious and welcoming with smiling staff and residents, beautifully furnished and with excellent food and surroundings.
The Manager came to visit us when we were hoping my husband would be admitted. When she came, I observed with
great admiration the highly professional and very experienced way in which she handled my dementing and tetchy husband. A bond was formed between them through mutual medical work experience. (he is a retired doctor).
When he arrived for admission at the Home, she was waiting for him with open and welcoming arms and assuring him they would look after him.
The horror and exhaustion accompanying a rapidly progressive dementia will be recognised by all who experience it. I can only say that my husband's admission has provided me with great relief. I feel he is in the best possible place and cared for by the best possible people. I am extremely grateful.

As a family we chose Benson House for its light surroundings, lovely garden and open spaces to spend time with our loved one when visiting. The rooms are lovely and clean.
The majority of Carers we cannot fault: for their empathy and kindness, to both our Mum and to us as a family.
There has been
more frustration with comms and management. We don't always hear back. It seems like simple systems could be put in place to help new families with no idea how a Care Home works. We sometimes worry about the staffing numbers and think more knowledge of dementia would be helpful. The Carers and Nurses do their best with what they know. Leaving a loved one in someone else's hands is a huge thing. Benson House has the potential to become truly excellent with better management.

Mum has been staying at Brooklyn House since July 2025 and our family could not be happier with the level of care and service they provide. All the staff are so friendly, welcoming and caring. They make such a fuss of Mum and she loves them all. The home is clean and tidy, the food is good and there
is always something going on from raffles to live singers. You can tell that all the residents are happy, safe and very well looked after. Thank you so much for everything you do, it means the world.
