After a respite visit to Sanford house, when dad needed permanent care there was only one place we contacted, it really is the compassion of the staff that really stands out,and when visiting we are made to feel so welcome and part of the family, plus dad is getting the very best of care - I wish I
could give the staff ten stars rather than five

It was with great sadness that we realised we could no longer care for my mother ourselves, and that she needed a team to keep her safe and well. Mellish House creates a warm, homely and cheerful environment absolutely appropriate for dementia sufferers. Staff are kind and patient with all, and very
willing to help visitors when they come to see their loved ones. The chef takes pride in his work; residents have a choice of meals that are extremely well prepared. Kind and thoughtful activities are arranged for all. Staff are easy to approach, and I have complete confidence in my mother's care.

My aunt loves the care home, she feels safe and well fed. There could be more variety in the activities but she enjoys those that she attends. The care staff are lovely, they are friendly and take care of all my aunt's needs. Her room is always clean and tidy but the home overall is looking a little
tired and could do with a bit of a face life. The gardens are now being better cared for and its good to get her out in the fresh air.

Had problems when mum first came in, wouldn't settle and was quite poorly. She has had a fall, and promised a pressure mat, that was in October, still waiting, now February. I have noticed the difference in staff at weekends they are quite happy for her to lay in bed all day, its not until I visit they
will get her up. Week staff great.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My relative has been a resident since October 2025. We had a few settling in difficulties but this last month has seen a great improvement in her involvement in activities and enjoyment in being a resident. The overall impression of the home is very good. All the staff are friendly and polite. Cleanliness
is good. Sometimes I think the meal choices could be better but my relation seems to enjoy most meals. Communication from staff and management via email is good. We have not received a health update for a while but we can see that our relative is well and settled so no concerns.

My mother is 98 years old and her needs are few. She does not engage in any activities and only eats porridge (3 times a day). From my observations (rather than her experience) the food looks good and staff do organise activities. I have rated value for money because the home is expensive for what she
gets out of it. The staff are friendly and kind to her and that matters.

Mum has been extremely well looked after during her 18 month stay until she passed away last week.
The carers were very friendly and efficient, her room was comfortable, and she enjoyed the food.
The activity programme was very well run, albeit she did not, of her own choosing, attend much. Christmas
was particualrly memorable for the combined efforts of the very enthusiastic staff.
The private dining facilities enabled the celebration of two memorable birthdays. Thank you very much for looking after Mum so well.

A very good level of care for my father, understanding and compassionate staff. Excellent communication about an issues arising with my Dad's care. Very comfortable and caring environment. The afternoon tea was excellent, with some of the best cake, and for both residents and visitors.

Parris Lawn

My 96 year old mother has been living at Parris Lawn since October 2025 and is extremely well cared for and is always positive herself about her new home. Despite Mum having mild Alzheimer's we did involve her in choosing her care home and she chose it on the basis of being peaceful, light and spacious.
My siblings and I were looking for somewhere local where Mum would be stimulated, well fed, warm and could have nursing care if required in the future. Parris Lawn ticked all these boxes and Mum is very happy in her new environment.
Mum embraces the daily organised activities and enjoys the food. Her room is well positioned with a lovely large window from where she can observe daily activities in the outside world. Visiting is very flexible and Mum enjoys family and friends calling in and sometimes taking her out for lunch etc. Mum also continues to do a couple of regular activities outside the care home.
Great peace of mind knowing Mum is well settled and content.

My mother has always been given a high standard of nursing care by all the friendly staff who are able to provide the extra care she now needs with her declining health. We as a family are always made to feel welcome when visiting.

I cannot praise highly enough, the attention my wife was given, in her three week stay with you, by all the staff. The building and facilities are 1st class, couldn't have wished for better! And would have no hesitation in using the care home again. I had to use 'The Manor', as I needed to have major
surgery, which I seemed to have pulled through alright, and am now back to caring for my wife again thankfully. Once again, thank you all for the help during a rough time.
