Mum lived at Benson House for just over 3 years. From the outset it was clear that she had entered a modern,
clean, tidy, and loving home. She received exemplary care from the many kind
personable carers who fussed over her with busy hands and friendly smiles on
a daily basis. Visitors were treated with the same genial courtesy, invited
to share the hot drinks and delicious cakes which mum enjoyed so much.
She celebrated her 90th birthday in some style up in a room on the first
floor with friends, family, and staff alike. As her physical health
deteriorated and she became essentially bed bound, the carers and
nursing staff continued their duties regularly turning her in bed to prevent
pressure sores, which she never suffered from as a result of their diligence.
In her final week of life this excellent care continued and an
appropriate end-of-life pathway was embarked on with the emphasis being on maintaining her dignity to the end.
Care homes do not come any better than this.
