The House is well staffed and they all show a willingness to help care at all times.

Although not yet fully used there are many daily opportunities to help patients make best use of their own capabilities.

Benson House is in a lovely location that feels really safe. The rooms are generous and the garden is beautiful and tranquil.
There are lots of activities the residents can enjoy or they can rest in their rooms and be well looked after.

I feel that my mother is safe and well cared for there and she has a good social aspect, with friendly staff and other residents.

Mum was placed on emergency respite back in March of this year. Obviously a very difficult time for her. All staff have been friendly and welcoming with Mum and the family, who visit daily. This continues to be observed on each visit. Always a "good morning" from reception and staff on the way in and up to see her. She is addressed with respect and her dignity is preserved. Any issues have been addressed as soon as mentioned. Mum enjoys the activities, she sometimes needs encouragement from staff to participate but is easily reassured by their gentle, calming approach. She has made friends, is happy and has settled well, which in turn makes us, the family, happy. Thank you.

Benson House is a superb care home. Beautiful home, caring staff. Great food. Excellent rooms. Patient and kind. We were lucky Mum stayed there. If there was one critique it would be air conditioning in the rooms but we understand the weather is extreme. But overall we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Benson House to anyone.

My husband had a short respite stay in Benson House after his
operation. On first visiting Benson House we were impressed by
the ambience of the place which felt more like an upmarket hotel
than a care home. It is modern, clean, cool and the staff were all
very welcoming. During his stay Philip received care and attention

of the very best. Thank you to all.

We were very happy with the quality of the service and care provided by the home overall.
The only negative would be that one SRN (Nurse) on duty on my mother's floor 2 was always quite abrupt and rude and she never answered alarm bells, we witnessed this first hand - we reported this to the home's General Manager.
Saying that there were a lot of caring staff who were lovely to my mother.

We always liked the atmosphere in the home which we normally found to be very friendly, calm, and relaxed.

Benson House treat dad with the utmost dignity and respect he deserves. All the staff are welcoming, friendly and delightful to be around. As a family we have come through an exceptionally challenging 9 months since Dad suffered such a serious fall. But we know it is the best decision we have made to move dad here. He is safe and so well cared for. Despite the sadness of our personal.situation, I look forward to my visits several days a week. I can't say thank you enough for all that they do for my beloved father.

My mother was resident at Benson House for 15 months. We were confident from the outset that we had made the right choice - a purpose-built modern building with ensuite rooms and spacious, well-equipped common areas. The gardens were well-maintained and open to all, and there were always plenty of activities and events going on. Family and residents were all made to feel welcome from the start, and I had nothing but positive feedback from Mum's other visitors.

Staff were all so kind, patient and good-humoured - even under difficult circumstances - and I had regular updates from staff and care reviews. Access to a GP was much appreciated. End of life care was respectful and compassionate, and as a family we all felt very much cared for.

Overall Experience
My Mother has been a resident of Benson House since the summer of 2025. We are especially pleased with the level of kindness and helpfulness of the staff. The cleanliness of her room and common areas and the good food, including High Teas with delicious cakes, mean that Mum is very happy both with her room and her care. The activities are varied and she enjoys joining in with everything including Balloon Badminton, seated exercises and lots of singing. However, if she wants a break and some peace and quiet then there are plenty of places she can just sit and watch the world go by. Whenever she has needed medical attention the local GP, working with the care home staff, visits her, and gives a level of care that affords us all peace of mind.
The local church includes the home with visits and services, which is very inclusive and uplifting. Its lovely that whatever time we are able to visit, we are made to feel part of the community too.

A big thank you to you all.

The staff were kind and helpful although some seemed to require better training . I had to ask on several occasions for my water jug to be refilled this should have been done twice a day My room was comfortable and the furniture was in keeping it was nice to have a fridge. A bedside light would have been appreciated as I found the centre chandelier too bright.

The food was not acceptable as what was written on the menu was often not what was produced . Often cold and the chef / cooks had no idea what ingredients are required to make certain meals and presentation poor also lack of green vegetables . There must be a great deal of food wasted. Considering I was visited in hospital and asked what I like to eat you couldn't even provide natural yogurt. Frankly the hospital food was better.

I am very happy to have found Benson House Care home. It is warm, luxurious and welcoming with smiling staff and residents, beautifully furnished and with excellent food and surroundings.
The Manager came to visit us when we were hoping my husband would be admitted. When she came, I observed with great admiration the highly professional and very experienced way in which she handled my dementing and tetchy husband. A bond was formed between them through mutual medical work experience. (he is a retired doctor).
When he arrived for admission at the Home, she was waiting for him with open and welcoming arms and assuring him they would look after him.

The horror and exhaustion accompanying a rapidly progressive dementia will be recognised by all who experience it. I can only say that my husband's admission has provided me with great relief. I feel he is in the best possible place and cared for by the best possible people. I am extremely grateful.

As a family we chose Benson House for its light surroundings, lovely garden and open spaces to spend time with our loved one when visiting. The rooms are lovely and clean.
The majority of Carers we cannot fault: for their empathy and kindness, to both our Mum and to us as a family.

There has been more frustration with comms and management. We don't always hear back. It seems like simple systems could be put in place to help new families with no idea how a Care Home works. We sometimes worry about the staffing numbers and think more knowledge of dementia would be helpful. The Carers and Nurses do their best with what they know. Leaving a loved one in someone else's hands is a huge thing. Benson House has the potential to become truly excellent with better management.

Overall Experience
Mum lived at Benson House for just over 3 years. From the outset it was clear that she had entered a modern,
clean, tidy, and loving home. She received exemplary care from the many kind
personable carers who fussed over her with busy hands and friendly smiles on
a daily basis. Visitors were treated with the same genial courtesy, invited
to share the hot drinks and delicious cakes which mum enjoyed so much.
She celebrated her 90th birthday in some style up in a room on the first
floor with friends, family, and staff alike. As her physical health
deteriorated and she became essentially bed bound, the carers and
nursing staff continued their duties regularly turning her in bed to prevent
pressure sores, which she never suffered from as a result of their diligence.
In her final week of life this excellent care continued and an
appropriate end-of-life pathway was embarked on with the emphasis being on maintaining her dignity to the end.

Care homes do not come any better than this.
