The expert team at Benson Care Home can support a range of care requirements. They have a team of fully trained nurses with specialist expertise, chosen for their compassion and experience. The home is a purpose-built luxury care home that provides quality nursing, residential, and dementia care for up to 70 residents on a permanent and short-stay basis.

The home is luxuriously furnished, giving a homely feel. There are a range of living areas for residents to socialise, with various lounges as well as a cinema room and a hairdressing salon. There are also a variety of daily activities to keep residents engaged. If residents prefer to spend time outside, there is access to vast landscaped gardens, with outdoor seating all year round to soak up the sun. Safety and comfort are a foremost concern at Benson House. That’s why all rooms have acoustic monitoring and are fitted with a nurse call system. Acoustic monitoring can help improve quality of sleep and reduce the risk of falls, giving residents' peace of mind.

For those living with memory loss or dementia, the home’s design features create an inclusive environment. They have dementia-friendly interior design, such as a new stable door feature, floor coverings and signage, to enable individuals living with dementia to find their way around the home independently and safely.

Benson House is excellent and I loved my stay there, and I have already booked two more stays. Everyone who works there goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and that they did in abundance. Thank you to each and every one of you for looking after me so well. Benson House should be so proud
that they have such a wonderful team.

My husband recently completed a three weeks respite stay at Benson house. Having been very apprehensive to begin with, at the end of his stay he was almost sorry to leave. Feeling distinctly sad at leaving friends behind. From the minute we arrived, we were met at the door by key staff and made to feel
welcome. The warm, friendly, professional and personalised care was evident throughout. We are definitely planning on a return visit.

Of all the homes I have visited in recent months to see if that home might be suitable for my wife and some respite for her, the Benson Home was outstanding. It is newly built and has the advantage of modern design and facilities but is also has a lovely atmosphere of calm, beauty, efficient management
and great and real, care. The whole building and fittings is of what I would describe as five star hotel quality but above all is its culture of really caring for all of its residents. What is absolutely obvious from the first arrival is every member of management and staff has one main objective and that is to provide a home for its residents as close to what their own families and homes would provide. The detailed training is obviously and rightly of supreme quality, but what is different is that the whole service and culture used and provided is one of real love and care. In my view, it is what any resident would wish for. My wife felt she was at home.

We were quite apprehensive about Mum spending some time at a care home, but right from our first visit, we were put at ease by the cheerful and professional welcome and the genuine kindness and attentiveness from all the staff. During her stay, Mum rediscovered her former buzz for life, and her self-confidence
grew daily. She started drawing and painting again, and she loved getting to know the other residents, either over the delicious 3-course meals in the restaurant or out on the patio or in the beautiful gardens, during the many activities, or just while relaxing with a cup of tea. The whole environment at Benson House is calm and welcoming and it is a cheerful and uplifting place to be. But it is the genuine care and attentiveness of the staff which makes it outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend them for anyone looking for anything from some temporary respite to a longer-term caring and nurturing home. The original meaning of Care Home is often overlooked, but Benson House provides just that.

My 87-year-old Mum stayed at Benson House for 2 weeks respite, whilst my family went on holiday. It is probably fair to say that Mum wasn't keen, but was equally worried about being left at home alone. However, she need not have worried, the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. The care
home itself is beautiful and very well equipped but what really made the whole experience was the staff. We felt welcome right from the start when we arrived to see a personalised welcome notice on the front door! All the staff were very friendly and attentive and Mum's care was very centred around her individual needs. I particularly liked how they introduced her to the other residents, as it can be quite daunting being the 'newbie'! I visited a couple of times before going on holiday and Mum seemed very settled. She enjoyed the activities and the company of the staff and the other residents. Mum is planning on a return trip next time we go on holiday - a success for all of us!

Thank you to all the staff for their caring, patience, dedication, professional personal input and friendliness. Visitors always made to feel welcome. The accommodation is second to none. Cleanliness excellent. Food looked delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. They were constantly in touch with Dr's,
district nurses, also Sue Ryder, whatever the needs.

My husband has been a resident in Benson House for four weeks. Due to the care and kindness of the staff, he has settled in amazingly well. The staff treats the residents with total respect and their thoughtful care preserves the dignity of the resident. The home and gardens are absolutely beautiful
throughout the home, a true home from home. The meals are first class and the chef and his team take huge pride in the preparation and presentation of all meals which are served in a lovely dining room or weather permitting Al Fresco. There is a busy activity programme and the activity coordinator with the help of the caring team organise activities suitable for all residents. Everyone is encouraged to get involved in some way and the days are busy with interesting and purposeful recreational activities. I am so pleased that I found Benson House and I feel very happy and confident that he is in a first-class quality care home and cared for by a team of professional and dedicated staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.773)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.773) out of 10 for Benson House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.773 for Benson House is calculated as follows: ( (393 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 476 Ratings = 4.773
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Benson House is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
