The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Sanford House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Sanford House Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.602 for Sanford House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (114 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 176 Ratings = 4.602

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sanford House Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8 positive Reviews (40 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 13 Reviews ÷ 8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My visits to see mum are met with friendly and welcoming staff, I always find that any questions I have are answered and information and updates on mum are forthcoming. I have every faith and trust that my mum is being well cared for and looked after as well as can be expected with respect and dignity. Thank you all so much.

My mother spent the last 6 months of her life at Sanford House Nursing Home, passing recently. We cannot praise the staff highly enough, they all have hearts of gold and treated my mother with care, compassion and dignity at all times. My brother and I spent the last week at her bedside and they were kind and caring towards us too. Seeing mum then and her interaction with staff, we realised that they had become like a family to her. We were apprehensive when we went in having heard horror stories about care homes, but we were so pleased that she ended up there. Should the need arise, I would be more than happy to place my elderly father there.

My wife was a resident for the past 6 months at Sanford House Nursing Home. I spent every afternoon in the company of staff and patients and was pleased with the welcome I always received. The care given to my wife was all I could have wished for and I know that my wife appreciated all the help that was freely given by all the staff and management. Thank you all very much.

My mother reluctantly had to go into a nursing home 15 months ago. During her time the care sh received was outstanding from all members of staff, showing care and compassion at all times. In my mother's final three weeks of her life the family decided to stay by her bedside day and night, not only did my mother receive care but the staff went out of their way to ensure that we were also cared for, supplying us with food, drinks and bedding, showing the same compassion for us as our mother.

Joan Auton, Home Manager at Sanford House Nursing Home responded to this review on 15 Feb 2017:

Thank you for taking the time to review Sanford House. We take great pride in ensuring we deliver safe, high-quality care and facilities. We always take time to understand the needs and interests of our residents and pride ourselves on providing outstanding choices when meeting the needs of every resident’s individual requirements. We always welcome the opportunity to review and improve upon what we offer and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

My wife came into Sanford House Nursing Home in September 2014 with a one-to-one care. At first, some of the care was provided by agency staff but since using the homes own staff, the care is excellent. This gives a much better quality of care as the carer knows the resident's needs. I am very grateful for the care she receives.

I am always impressed by the warm welcome by all the staff every time I visit the home. The care and attention given to each resident is very noticeable. The staff can't do enough for them and you can tell they enjoy their work. The home is decorated with Christmas decorations the residents would have been used to. It looks comfy, warm, festive and homely for the residents. The Sanford whole team look after and take care of my mum and all the residents really well. I'm very grateful to them all. I have peace of mind and are completely satisfied, thanks to them all.

Absolutely happy with the care my Aunt receives. The staff are efficient and go out of their way to assist the residents and their families;/friends. Sanford House has a welcoming and warm ambience and feels very homely. It certainly is not a sad place but is a bustling busy home which makes a real effort to keep spirits up. I would happily recommend Sandford House.

My mother came into this residential home after Easter this year and she has been welcomed into an efficient, caring and friendly well-managed home. She settled in really well because people who work here were so professional and kind. We felt safe and secure with good communication and effective medical care as well as confident in their facilities and approach. The food is particularly excellent and the atmosphere is full of warmth and generosity of spirit.

My Mother has been in this care home since 3rd October 2016. She is being well looked after and I cannot fault the staff, nurses and management in any way.
Every requirement has been met, when it's time to leave from visiting her I feel reassured to know that she is in good hands

I have been very impressed with the home. The staff are very caring and get to know the residents very well, for example, my mam likes singing old songs and to cheer her up the staff will sing the songs for her.
Mam has even said that she is very happy at the home.
The activities are great and mam particularly enjoys when the performer sings.
