Latham Lodge enjoys an enviable reputation for delivering the very highest standards of residential, nursing and palliative care, on a permanent and short stay basis, in a homely and friendly environment in Purbrook.

The home manager has a qualified nursing background and the dedicated care team works very closely with each of the residents, their families and loved ones, to ensure personally tailored care plans are put in place.

Formerly a substantial 1930s family residence, Latham Lodge nursing home provides an environment that retains a real sense of home. The light and spacious environment offers a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. When the weather is fine, residents can enjoy the delightful gardens.

Latham Lodge is home to residents and the team never loses sight of that and residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms.

I have the greatest need to thank each staff member at Latham Lodge for the extraordinary care, treatment and attention given to my brother each & every day during his stay of 2 years & 5 months at Latham Lodge.
Prior to he was required to vacate his residency of a self-caring residential home at
the age of 94 years due to his inability to care for himself & the property. Primarily his condition was caused by excessive use of over prescribed medication. The situation caused me an unexpected stress & anxiety, however, a seamless transfer to Latham Lodge relieved some concerns. The medical team assessed & controlled the medication dosages & restored his health and capacity to my utter relief.
Despite his frequently expressed contentment, I would occasionally apply a test by asking whether if he would like to transfer to a top notch care home, his replies were consistent & final " Why would I want to leave here these people are kind, friendly & attentive to my every need", says it all !

Up until last year when my cousin passed away July 2025, I just visited aunt, after that date I had to look after her at the home, making sure she was looked after, which she was. The staff at the home were very caring not only to my aunt at our sad time but also helped me in every way they could very,
I would highly recommend Latham Lodge Care Home. When my aunt sadly passed in March 2025 they were very professional. I couldn't ask for more help. Thank you to all your staff x

Lovely, friendly staff who make you feel welcome. Helpful + always have time to help. Nice comfortable rooms. Good food + always a cuppa on offer.
Mum went into respite for two weeks, came home for a week and has now gone back permanently. She always says 'everyone is lovely'.

My late mum was transferred here from hospital where she passed away after a week approx. The whole process was a struggle however we were in good hands with the manager who went above and beyond to help us all, the staff were all professional and very helpful and took care of mum.

My brother-in-law was moved from a hospice down to Latham Lodge. His room was like being in his own home, all the staff from cooks, cleaners, carers, nurses and managers were the most caring, compassionate and professional people we have ever met. Nothing was ever too much trouble and made my brother-in-law's
passing peaceful and as pain-free as possible. I can't praise all the staff enough. Keep up all your good work.

Latham Lodge looked after my Nana so well at the end of her life. She was so happy there in the 18 months that she was a resident. The staff was so incredibly kind to our whole family, and at the very end, they looked after us as part of their 'Latham Lodge family'.

After what I can only describe as a difficult time in the local hospital, we discovered a flock of angels that came to our rescue at Latham Lodge. From the moment our relative arrived, he was welcomed with open arms by everyone. We visited shortly afterwards and we were welcomed and supported in the
same way. Everything to care for our relative was put in place straight away including a special pureed diet, airflow mattress medication and personal care. His room was very clean and bright and we were able to personalize it with photographs and pictures from his home. He settled well and was extremely happy. The support and friendship our family was given was second to none. Unfortunately, our relative took a turn for the worse and even then we were supported day and night in what was a very stressful and emotional time. His end-of-life care was given with utmost compassion. We will never forget their kindness.

From the moment my father moved into this care home, his overall well-being and health improved greatly since leaving hospital which was a dreadful experience and they should be ashamed of themselves. They made my father's health worse. But Latham Lodge gave my father a good quality of life and he turned
a corner to better health. He also had his first dinner in 6 years because the chef was able to accommodate his chewing difficulties. Thank you!

Placing a parent in a care home is emotional and stressful. Is the parent going to be treated with dignity and cared for - fed and looked after? As soon as you go into Latham House - all of those questions are answered - you can feel the warmth and care immediately. The staff from management down are
genuine in their attention and care - Mum was happy and was looked after - so much so that she is already planning to return for another respite. Well done Latham House!

The manager and staff at Latham Lodge are amazing. My mother-in-law was moved here from hospital after a fall and the care they gave was formidable. They definitely had to think outside the box to get her stimulated and were very resourceful with some creative ideas. We were extremely happy with the
care she received whilst here and she was extremely upset to find she would have to leave as she loved being there and thought the staff were wonderful.

Dad was sent to Latham Lodge from the hospital. It was for an assessment, only to find out he was end of life. He was in the hospital since December 22 and in other places, but no one told us until he was here. They looked after Dad very well and the family too. We can't thank them enough for keeping
us informed and the care right up to his last day.

I would like to thank all the staff at Latham Lodge from the manager to all the staff there for their professional care and compassion shown to my brother on his end-of-life journey. The building and accommodation are dated but the care is what you would want for a member of your family.

My mother recently suffered a stroke and after a spell in hospital was discharged to a nursing home for assessment.
Whilst there was a small improvement in her condition, the home was reluctant to support the advice from the stroke rehab team. As a result, she was left in bed for two months with little
attempt to aid her recovery.
During her time at the home, she was left lying in a soiled bed, ignored and shouted at by some care assistants. As a family, we witnessed this during our visits which left not only us but my mother extremely distressed.
I contacted Latham Lodge Nursing and Residential Care Home, explained our predicament and the manager was keen to help.
We visited and were very impressed by what we saw.
Thankfully my mother was offered a place at Latham. Within just ten days the difference in her is truly incredible.
All the staff want to make a positive difference; to treat both the resident and relatives as part of the Latham family. Latham Lodge is everything you dare to hope a nursing home would be.

My mother was transferred to Latham Lodge for respite care following a fall and a spell in hospital. You hear many horror stories about care homes but I definitely should not have worried. The care mum received was outstanding. Every single member of staff was friendly, approachable and kind-hearted.
Nothing was too much trouble and at all times mum was treated with dignity, gentleness and compassion. I would not hesitate to recommend Latham Lodge or use them again should the need ever arise.
