Whilst there was a small improvement in her condition, the home was reluctant to support the advice from the stroke rehab team. As a result, she was left in bed for two months with little attempt to aid her recovery.
During her time at the home, she was left lying in a soiled bed, ignored and shouted at by some care assistants. As a family, we witnessed this during our visits which left not only us but my mother extremely distressed.
I contacted Latham Lodge Nursing and Residential Care Home, explained our predicament and the manager was keen to help.
We visited and were very impressed by what we saw.
Thankfully my mother was offered a place at Latham. Within just ten days the difference in her is truly incredible.
All the staff want to make a positive difference; to treat both the resident and relatives as part of the Latham family. Latham Lodge is everything you dare to hope a nursing home would be.
Thank you Catherine for taking the time to leave us a review, we are pleased to read your positive comments about the care your mother is receiving and that you all feel part of the Latham family. The care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families are extremely important to us. Your comments have been passed on to the team who will be delighted to hear your feedback.
Mum has continued to receive the best care from all of the team at Latham Lodge. She is very comfortable and happy which gives us, her family, great reassurance that she is being given such good care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! We're happy to hear that your mum is receiving such great care at Latham Lodge. The care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families is extremely important to us. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team.
My mother was transferred to Latham Lodge for respite care following a fall and a spell in hospital. You hear many horror stories about care homes but I definitely should not have worried. The care mum received was outstanding. Every single member of staff was friendly, approachable and kind-hearted. Nothing was too much trouble and at all times mum was treated with dignity, gentleness and compassion. I would not hesitate to recommend Latham Lodge or use them again should the need ever arise.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! We're happy to hear that your mother received such great care at Latham Lodge when she was with us. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team.
Latham Lodge is very fortunate to have such caring staff. From the manager to the cleaning people I cannot praise them enough. Highly recommend this care home.

I feel the home, the Manager and the staff have really pulled together to improve the service. My aunt and myself are happy with everything.

Mum only spent a short time at Latham Lodge but we found the staff very welcoming and the process to move her there was made easy by management. I always found the home to be very clean and tidy with the staff always ready to help. I would like to thank them for looking after mum.
Thank you for your review, we are pleased your mum enjoyed her stay with us.
Because of an agency nurse who was here briefly at night, I believe I have been the subject of a scam. No reflection on Latham Lodge I am fully supported and cared for.
Mum has been a resident since May 2021 and I cannot fault the care she has been given. Sadly mum had a fall and broke her hip recently and the care and communication were brilliant before she was admitted to hospital for surgery. On her return, despite mum being considerably less mobile than before her fall they have been brilliant. In a perfect world they could certainly do with more staff in all areas but cannot fault the work they do in these difficult times.
We would like to express our gratitude for the care and compassion shown to our mother. In a few months she has been in your care you have managed to reduce her anxiety and fear to a level we have not seen for twenty years. You have encouraged her to eat (which she was not doing). This has only been achieved through the kindness of your staff who are always cheerful and patient. We know that the trust we put on you is well placed.
Latham Lodge is not a modern, purpose-built nursing home but what it lacks in amenities is more than made up by the quality of the care given by all the staff, which I feel is the most important thing.
The wonderful staff at Latham Lodge looked after my father for over a year until he passed away. I can’t thank them enough for the care and attention they have shown him. The nurses, carers, chefs, cleaners, laundry staff and maintenance staff. Everyone is friendly and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff chat to the residents and take time to know them personally. Dad had two birthdays whilst in the lodge and was baked a cake and the staff sang Happy Birthday to him. The staff are always busy and work extremely hard to provide the residents with love and support. I know some of the staff have been working long hours during the Covid pandemic to keep the residents safe and reduce the use of agency staff coming into the care home. My dad really enjoyed his chats and jokes with the staff. Thank you for all you have done.
My father was cared for at Latham Lodge for 14-months before he passed away. During his time there, he was cared for by a wonderful group of carers and nurses. Nothing was ever too much bother, and they built a fantastic rapport with my father. I always felt reassured he was treated with respect and dignity. During the last few days of his life, the nurses and carers went above and beyond their duty, and I, and family will be forever grateful.
We cannot thank the staff enough for the care they gave mum in her last two weeks. She was relaxed and accepting of situation. She was treated with care and dignity.
My brother was a resident for the last 2 days of his life, I was informed that my brother had passed away by phone. I was not able to visit the home due to the virus, even though I was able to view his room a couple of days before I was not allowed in to see him on his arrival or after he had passed away. A couple of hours after his passing I received a call informing me to arrange straight away his removal to a funeral home, in the circumstances I found this incredibly insensitive and not what I would expect from a care home. When I collected his belongings I found that they had been partly packed in his bag the other things had been put in carrier bags and the whole lot was being dragged along the floor to the door where I quickly checked all was there, one item was missing and a couple of items in the bag were not his, this whole experience was distressing and the care home staff were insensitive. Disappointing.
My husband transferred from hospital following his 1st choice re 'End of Life Care' to a hospice. After 3 weeks of pain control and stabilisation we were informed 'End of Life Nursing Care' would be required at Latham Lodge. Since his arrival on Monday 9/3/20 he/we have been given/shown nothing but excellent 24 hours on-going nursing care, help, kindness, support, by all staff and especially reassurance and gentleness when various staff carry out his personal care, which he requires frequently. My husband is very much appreciating the friendliness and having many chats with his caring staff. He says he is 'very cosy and comfortable', he appreciates his new room is very well kept by the housekeeping and maintenance staff teams. My husband's appetite, due to his complex diagnoses, is extremely limited re amounts he can tolerate, but says (and I've eaten some meals since transfer) the meals are 'excellent'. the wonderful, understanding female chef presents his meals in small portions beautifully, which again he very much appreciates. All the staff at Latham Lodge are extremely hardworking and have shown they are all trained to very high standards of care, which in turn demonstrates an excellent management structure, one that carries on day by day. Caring Homes can be extremely pleased and very proud of all staff employed at Latham Lodge under the Latham manager and her team. My husband made a comment to me just 3 days in Latham Lodge, when I asked how he was finding Latham and his care - he replied with tears 'It is beyond my wildest expectations, and I'm very, very grateful that I/we were offered a room at this wonderful, caring nursing home'. Needless to say we hugged each other and cried together. Thank you all at Latham Lodge, keep doing what you are all doing 24 hours a day.
The majority of the team, two in particular, were excellent and very caring.
The staff here are kind and caring, always willing to go that extra mile. They looked after my Mother in Law very well and she was happy here. Every member of the team would always say hello or stop for a quick chat as they passed her door, which made her feel part of the Latham family.
Many facilities not used (sister bedbound) but did seem to be catered for.
My dad will be sorely missed but knowing how much love was shown to him in his last months is a great comfort to us all.
Staff were outstanding, my mum's care was outstanding/amazing and the team treated my sister and I like family, thank you.
