Reviews

9.4 Whittington House Nursing Home has a Review Score of 9.4 (9.350)

The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for Whittington House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 12 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Whittington House Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.517 for Whittington House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 143 Ratings = 4.517

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.833 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whittington House Nursing Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 13.2 positive Reviews (66 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 13.2 Target = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother has been in Whittington House for the last seven months. From the moment we walked in the front door we were greeted with friendly faces and a warm, welcoming attitude and this has never been any different. Everyone who works there is so kind and caring, myself and my family cannot praise them enough. All the staff do everything they can and go out of their way to make my mother comfortable and happy it is a very special home.

I couldn't wish for a better home for my 90-year-old mum, she started off going for respite care and is now a permanent resident.
The management is approachable, friendly and kind. The activities ladies are amazing and work so hard to involve everyone. The carers go above and beyond and the catering gentleman and his team supply lovely food served always with a smile nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff at Whittington House. Thank you

The staff at my father's care home go out of their way to make him feel safe, loved and cared for. They are attentive to his individual needs and have all the necessary equipment and training. In particular, the activities programme is very stimulating and imaginative - hawks and owls visiting the home, virtual reality goggles, coffee mornings, team games, music and movement. I have just come home from a residents and relatives' quiz night which was fantastic - lots of laughs plus wine and cheese. What fun. They have been very supportive during a very stressful time for my family.

Very welcoming and friendly when setting up initial accommodation. Whilst my mother was in residence, she was treated with great kindness, care and dignity by all the staff including the caterers.
Her room was clean and comfortable as were all parts of the home. An excellent facility.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

Description:

As the Registered Manager of Whittington House Nursing Home, I lead a professional team in providing the highest standards of residential and nursing care for residents with varying needs. Our commitment ensures they lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive.

I am a qualified Nurse with a degree in Specialist Practice for Oncology and Palliative Care as well as in depth knowledge of dementia care. During my career I have worked at Cheltenham and Bristol hospitals, as a ward sister in a local hospice, and as Manager of a Dementia Nursing Home.

The diversity of my job, with the opportunity to be a dynamic manager and role model, is very rewarding. I feel very fortunate to be in a post which gives me such fulfilment and which enables me to bring my confidence, knowledge, experience and skills to Caring Homes and my team, who in turn are enabled and encouraged to give the best care and support they can to our residents and their families.

I live in Gloucestershire where I was born and raised, and enjoy spending time with my partner and daughter, trying to share my relaxation time with my family as much as possible. I love reading and music, as well as baking and cake decorating in my spare time. We have recently acquired an allotment and I can’t wait to start making the most of the outdoors together and then eating the hard-earned results of efforts!
