My mum has been at Horsell Lodge receiving respite care for a few weeks now, and I would like to feed back to say how happy we are with the home and care. Mum's room is very clean and comfortable and the staff so warm and welcoming. They seem to really care about the residents, about their jobs and to have a lovely working relationship with each other. The registered nurses who have been caring for my mum's health needs are incredible- very thorough, skilled and approachable. Thank you everyone at Horsell Lodge!

We have cared for my wife's grandmother for 6 years, knowing she wanted to remain at home whilst requiring more and more care and had been a struggle and a pressure for some time. Not only is Brook brighter, happier and healthier since joining you, but my wife is also! Knowing yoy are taking such good care of her is a huge relief to us, and being able to visit every day, at any time has made the transition easy for us all. We greatly appreciate all the staff, excellence and care you provide, thank you.

Your kindness, care and efficiency have been a blessing to our family. I feel a huge burden has been lifted from me. Knowing Nan is so beautifully and thoroughly cared for gives me such peace, and it's been incredible to watch her blossom under your care since her transition from home to Horsell Lodge. Nan was adamant she would never want to be in a nursing home, yet on day, she did not stop smiling, and she's been happily settled here since. Thank you for all your love, dedication and effort, it's truly exceptional!

My mother has been a resident at Horsell Lodge for 3 years. I have always been very happy with the way she has been cared for, the quality of the accommodation and the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff. We have always felt comfortable in raising any issues or concerns knowing they will be dealt with or we will be given an explanation if they can't.
Have no hesitation in recommending Horsell Lodge.

Thank you for caring for my mother during the last few months of her life. Your nursing staff were diligent in caring for her and she felt safe and comfortable while with you. Mum had plenty of visitors while she was there and they were all complementary about the standard of the home, reassuring me I had made the best choice for her. Sadly, because of her illness, she was unable to take part in many of the activities on offer, but I know she enjoyed mealtimes and it was good to see her appetite return. Once again, thank you for looking after her.

The carers were very friendly and efficient, her room was comfortable, and she enjoyed the food.
The activity programme was very well run, albeit she did not, of her own choosing, attend much. Christmas was particualrly memorable for the combined efforts of the very enthusiastic staff.
The private dining facilities enabled the celebration of two memorable birthdays. Thank you very much for looking after Mum so well.

Mum loved the caring atmosphere the staff brought to the 'Every Day events' and know how much she loved the Scrabble and Art group sessions.
Although Mum had mobility issues, she was always included in the 'Sparkle Activities' Especially the Afternoon Tea and Summer BBQ, which she made sure I attended.
Again thanks for all the care she received, especially in her last few months.

Mum has been a resident at Horsall Lodge since February 2020, just before COVID pandemic and lock down. The care home management and staff have over the years, adapted their care to suit the climate as well as the individual residents. My mind is more relaxed knowing that my mum at a vulnerable stage of her life is in good hands and genuinely well looked after. Thank you.

We were very lucky to find Horsell Lodge following my mother's accident and discharge from hospital. We were really impressed by the kindness and efficiency of the management team in assessing my mother and getting her transferred quickly to the home, at a busy time before Christmas. The team have provided wonderful respite care for her while she heals. The care has been attentive, kind, respectful, everything you could hope for. The nurses and care assistants are second to none in their professionalism and warmth. As a family we could not be more pleased with the support provided to my mother after a traumatic experience.

When my mum suddenly needed palliative care, the manager, deputy head nurse, clinical lead and the office staff, along with the carers and all other departments, including housekeeping, rose above and beyond to provide compassionate and supported environment for my mum. They extended this love and support to all the family members at this difficult time. They made this time bearable for us and were always there when we needed them. Sadly, my dear mum has now passed away. I will miss seeing them all.

From the first contact with the home throughout the admission process and from her very first moments at the home all of the staff, carers, managers etc have been outstanding.
A very difficult and emotional time was managed with the utmost care.
My mother is being extremely well cared for and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Horsell Lodge to anyone.

My mother has been in Horsell Lodge for over 3 years and they are taking very good care of her, in fact, I can't speak highly enough about the care she is given. There has been the odd issue (hardly surprising given Covid and nationwide care sector challenges) but the few problems have been addressed promptly and comprehensively, which is precisely what one would want to see from management and staff. Mum has recently celebrated an important birthday, so we used the hospitality service and the private dining room to hold a family lunch party for her, her children, grandchildren and partners. The preparation was thorough, the room very well-decorated, the food was really excellent, and the service superb. The hospitality manager did an excellent job, and the individuals who attended to us on the day were attentive, considerate, and cheerful. They were absolutely brilliant, and we cannot thank them enough for looking after Mum and the rest of the family on what was a very special day.

We had an excellent meal here with my mother and family this month, 9 of us. The hospitality team were all very good. The room was very nicely decorated. The food and service were good. And the cost was very low. Thank you!

Meet the Team (3)

As the Home Manager at Horsell Lodge, Julie believes residents should be able to live the life they want and be able to be themselves. She enjoys taking on the responsibilities that come with managing a home and encourages the inclusion of everyone in the home to create a friendly environment and a great place for all to live and work.
Julie has worked in a variety of roles within the care sector for over 40 years, including being a registered nurse in the NHS for 20 years in intensive care and then moving to a nursing role within a care home. From there, she progressed to Home Manager and has managed various-sized homes, giving her great experience. Having worked as a nurse in this setting previously, she also understands what the day-to-day role involves, so she can support the team.
Julie operates an open-door policy and is approachable, not only to the team, but to the residents and their relatives too, as Horsell Lodge is their home. She encourages residents to make their rooms their own by bringing in meaningful items to help make it homely for them.
Something that stood out to Julie when she joined Caring Homes was the owners’ care backgrounds. They understand what is involved at the home level, and there is a strong support network in place for the team to continually develop. She is passionate about seeing the care home team members grow and develop in their roles at the home and working together to offer the best care and environment possible.
In her spare time, Julie loves to travel and understand different cultures. She never goes back to the same place twice! She is also interested in ancestry, a fascinating journey of discovery.

As Deputy Home Manager, Daniela feels really passionate about helping residents and their families feel part of our community. She strongly believes every resident should have the opportunity to live their life as they wish.

Margaret says she is proud to be part of the team at Horsell Lodge Care Home, providing the best care quality and service to residents while enhancing their daily lives.
