Horsell Lodge is located on the outskirts of the delightful village of Horsell. The home is built to the latest care standards offering dementia, residential and nursing care on a permanent and short stay basis. The home prides itself on providing exceptional care in the best possible surroundings with a focus on person-centred care, clinical excellence and family values, including professional physiotherapy sessions.

There are many different enticing spaces to relax in such as the bistro and quiet lounges dotted around the home, as well as a cinema and hair salon. With beautifully landscaped gardens and wind-proof glazed balconies providing outdoor seating all year round.

Safety and comfort are a foremost concern, so all rooms are fitted with a nurse call system and acoustic monitoring for residents' peace of mind. As well as improving quality of sleep, acoustic monitoring can help to reduce the risk of falls. For those living with memory loss or dementia, design features include dementia-friendly elements such as interior decoration, new stable door feature, light levels, floor coverings and signage which help to promote a sense of calm and wellbeing, while enabling people living with dementia to find their way around independently and safely.

The nurses worked above and beyond their duties. All the staff were very caring, special people. I came here convalescing after L4/5 lumbar spine decompression and fusion as I live on my own and have no one to look after me. Very heavy duvets on the beds, I had to ask for a lightweight one which they
found 2 days later. Beautiful modern decor throughout.

Our mum had two weeks of respite following her time in the hospital. She was so happy that she decided to become a permanent resident immediately after respite. When we came to view (we) my husband and myself knew this was where my 93 year old Mum would be happy. I was right it ticks all the boxes. Yesterday my mum rang at 7 to say one of the carers had popped in to give her a share of her birthday chocolates. That sums it up completely, a home from home. She
has blossomed here, no complaints, just pleased to have found this brilliant place for my lovely Mum.

My father has been having respite care at Horsell Lodge and it has been outstanding. The home is beautifully and cleverly designed to maximise comfort and care. The staff are always kind, friendly and attentive.
It has made such a difference to the whole family to know that Dad is safe and well-cared

Although my stepfather was a resident at Horsell Lodge Care Home for only a few weeks, he was made to feel very welcome and the standard of care he received was excellent. Every member of staff we interacted with was professional and friendly and they very seriously cared about each resident.

My father was a resident at Horsell Lodge for April 2022 to March 2023, when he passed away. At all times, he was treated with patience and respect by every member of staff. I and my family couldn't recommend Horsell Lodge highly enough. He was a strong-willed man, but his opinions were always taken
and treated with respect.

All the staff at Horsell Lodge, whether they are admin, care, medical or nursing, are kind, caring, patient and helpful. Room and communal areas are clean and tidy, from what I have seen so far. I am happy with the care my mum is receiving.

My parents recently moved to Horsell Lodge. Unfortunately, my stepfather passed away shortly afterwards. The team handled the whole situation with utter professionalism and sensitivity. My mother has settled in well, despite her loss, because of the great care she receives and the lovely facilities
and accommodation. We are always received with a friendly smile and welcome from the team when we visit and nothing is too much trouble.


I would have no hesitation in recommending Horsell Lodge for your loved ones.

We used Horsell Lodge Care Home for two weeks of respite care for a parent in their late eighties. They enjoyed their time and were well looked after by very friendly staff. They left looking healthier and in better spirits.
I was disappointed that check out was a day earlier than expected after being
advised that charges were based on days and not nights. Recommend this is pointed out explicitly rather than in small print.

The overall stay for my sister was excellent the staff were very good and my sister thought the care home was lovely.
Would definitely recommend Horsell Lodge care home.
The food was good a very nice menu to select from everything is fresh and cooked at the home.
The room was amazing with en-suite
plus many more extras.

A family friend has stayed at Horsell Lodge a few times for some respite and always expresses how excellent the home is. I know when the time comes for my loved ones, Horsell Lodge will be our first choice.

Mum moved to Horsell Lodge in October 2020 and took some time to settle for so many reasons. But I would say she has now reached a point where she is as settled as she ever will be, considering her dementia and now with the onset of mixed Alzheimers too.


Understandably, Horsell Lodge has not been

able to avoid being affected by the national shortage of good care staff but they do manage it the best they can. The new manager takes a real interest in the lives of her residents and gets to know them so when you raise any matters with her, she is not aloof from the situation.


The whole care team have really worked hard and consistently to help my Mum feel as settled and comfortable as possible through the ever-changing life of someone with dementia and I for one, really appreciate their thoughtfulness and professionalism.

As we slowly come out of Covid restrictions, Horsell Lodge has lost no time in adding activities for residents to the pre-pandemic level. Dad is the second relative we have placed in Horsell Lodge - we have been impressed with the high standard of care and the quality of staff since this care home opened.

My Dad made the choice to move to Horsell Lodge in order to be closer to family and due to increasing difficulty in managing living independently. Whilst it has been a big adjustment for him, Horsell Lodge with its great staff, lovely facilities and varied activities have proved an ideal environment.
He has enjoyed the additional social activities and knowing he is getting all the care he needs is a great weight off all his family's minds.

My mother has resided at Horsell Lodge for the past two years. After a difficult initial period, which is understandable after moving out of her home, she has settled in very well thanks to the care and understanding of the staff at Horsell Lodge. The team have been very helpful in catering for mum's
needs. She appreciates the lovely surroundings and the quality of the interior and realises that the care she is receiving is second to none.

Some very minor hiccups on arrival when I found out, not told, that there was a shortage of staff. After that, the attention to detail was impressive; the staff couldn't do enough and frequently went that extra yard. Flexibility from the catering, again going to extremes to satisfy. So thanks to everybody
at Horsell Lodge. I thought the leisurely seating was not always comfortable.

Family members selected Horsell Lodge for my parents after looking at a number of other homes online. My niece visited the home in advance. My parents stayed for three weeks respite care. They found the environment very pleasant and the furnishings in their rooms were very good. The home also has pleasant
gardens with plenty of outside seating and new equipment. The staff were also very caring and kind towards my parents and got on well with them. The staff also made a real effort to keep in touch with me and I was impressed during those conversations. When I visited the home the Covid-19 procedures were carried out very effectively and my interactions with the staff were very good. I also found the environment to be impressive.
As might be expected, there were some issues. My parents were disappointed with the food and struggled with the timings of the meals. However, during their stay the staff adjusted to some of my parents wants and I understand a new cook has been appointed.

From the moment we first approached the team at Horsell Lodge they were helpful, happy and empathetic to my needs for our mother. They talked me through everything associated with the home and made me feel at ease. When both my mother and myself visited for the first time; during Covid, they supported
us and made us feel very welcome. From then on I knew this was the best place for my mother. Initially, we booked in for respite care to see how mum would adapt to the change and also if she was happy. Mother has been in homes for respite care before and hated them; she loves Horsell Lodge, so much so we have now signed a full-term contract as she loves it so much. The staff are amazing and so happy and friendly, cannot recommend the home enough.

The manager and care staff took time and trouble to ask about my wife's medical needs as a Parkinson's sufferer and her personal preferences. Care was taken to ensure that she tested negative for Covid 19 before admission and that she was kept safely isolated during her stay, as she had not at that
time been vaccinated.


Despite being quarantined, during her stay, she was kept informed of what was on offer by way of activities, facilities and also menu choices for meals. Questions I had about her routine during her stay and any issues such as sleeping patterns and toiling were answered fully and promptly.

Job Title: Home Manager

As the Home Manager I believe our residents should be able to live the life they want and be able to be themselves. I enjoy taking on the responsibilities that come with managing a home and I encourage the inclusion of everyone in the home, to create a friendly environment and a great place for us all to live and work.


I have worked in a variety of roles within the care sector for over 40 years, including being a registered nurse in the NHS for 20 years in intensive care and then moving to a nursing role within a care home. From there I progressed to Home Manager and have managed various sized homes, giving me great experience and having worked as a nurse in this setting previously I understand what the day-to-day role involves so I can support my team.


I operate an open-door policy and am approachable, not only to my team, but to the residents and their relatives too as it is their home. I encourage residents to make their rooms their own, by bringing in meaningful items to help make it homely for them.


The care background of the owners of Caring Homes is what stood out to me when joining as they understand what is involved at home level and there is a strong support network in place for me and my team to continually develop. I am passionate about seeing my team members grow and develop in their roles at the home as I work with them to offer the best care and environment possible for our residents.


In my spare time I love to travel and understand different cultures, I never go back to the same place twice as the world is so big and has so much to offer. I am also interested in ancestry, which I find fascinating and is a journey of discovery.
