New Memory Café Opens at Belvoir Care Home, Widmerpool

Thursday 29 September 2016, saw the grand opening of a beautiful new memory café at Belvoir Vale Care Home, Widmerpool, by Her Grace Frances The Duchess of Rutland.

Visitors were given a VIP tour of Belvoir Vale Care Home and then served afternoon tea and cupcakes in the beautiful vintage café. The transformed former library also boasts an indoor garden room and vintage sweet shop.

The café and its accompanying rooms will be also open to the public alternate weeks, on a Thursday, for those needing a break or change whilst caring for someone with dementia. Memories Café is the brainchild of Jo Widdowson, Care Home Manager, who wanted to create a secure and beautiful environment where people could relax and enjoy coffee and cakes in a safe and risk-free environment. Jo is hoping the residents and families utilise the café every day and get pleasure out of it.

Belvoir Vale Care Home is a unique mini care complex sited over 3 buildings, offering residential care in Granby Lodge and The Gate House and residential dementia care in Rutland House. The home features beautiful internal courtyards and a sensory garden; the home is an idyllic place to live.
