Kippington Recieves Good CQC in all areas

The Kippington Nursing Home in Sevenoaks, provides residential and nursing care for up to 51 residents; it was given a Good rating in all areas by inspectors, for providing a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care service.

The home has been operating for nearly 60 years, having opened as a care home in the early 1950s.

The CQC report praised Kippington in its overall summary, and noted: "Staff knew each person well and understood how to meet their support and communication needs. They communicated effectively with people and treated them with kindness and respect."

The report continued: "Staff encouraged people to do as much as possible for themselves. One person told us how she wanted to do things for herself 'as long as she could' and that staff understood this."

Significant achievements were also noted in the report, which recorded: "Staff place emphasis on the promotion of good health. A person had come to the home under palliative care and was now walking with help from staff and a walking aid. Another person had come to the home with a low mental state and was now getting dressed and joining others in the lounge. Their family had commented how this progress was 'remarkable'."

We are all extremely happy at the praise we received from inspectors in the report following their visit Kippington in June this year.

"All of our team members, residents and families work well together to support each other and it is very pleasing to see that our service has been rated as good by the CQC."

Kippington – formerly a family residence known as Kippington Grange – is a beautiful Victorian building, dating back to 1874.
