I visited an old gentleman in room 17 and brought his son. The staff from reception and in all aspects were very professional and welcoming. I could not comment on management and value for money as I did not meet any plus not involved with fees.

The staff work very hard hard , they all deserve a medal
My mum is 102 this year, and I'm happy she has the best care

The staff at Kippingtons have been excellent in the time Dad has been in respite. They are hard-working, kind and caring to us all. They have treated Dad with respect and shown dedicated care to him at all times. Thanks to them he has now settled in well. The home offers good activities, a wide choice
of food, and encourages new friendships. A lovely room with all the facilities Dad needs. The love and care is well recognised and appreciated by all the family.

Nursing very good, prompt intervention when needed. Care very good, staff are patient, interact, he is always treated with respect and dignity. When my husband was ill with a chest infection the care/concern was prompt by all the staff. Whenever I have a worry/query the staff take time to answer. All
our friends and family remark how friendly and welcoming the home is.

From the moment we walked into reception and were given directions to find my sister (room 20). We were greeted by smiling and happy staff. My sister's room was spacious and with many personal items. Lots of family photographs. Every area was spotlessly clean. My sister seems happy and contented, she's
93 and recently became a resident.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, Divisional Marketing Manager at KippingtonsThanks so much for this lovely review! We really appreciate you taking the time to share how happy you are with the care your sister is receiving in our home. It's particularly lovely to hear about how happy and friendly you find the staff, and how you find the home to be spotlessly clean. It's a pleasure to have your sister with us.

My grandmother has expressed on more than one occasion how happy she is with the care she is receiving & how kind & helpful everyone is.

My own interaction with all staff has always been very pleasant & all are happy to help & deliver their service with a smile. This includes all phone calls & personal

interaction.

The home is clean & calm & all communal spaces are well maintained. My grandmothers private room is a good size with an en-suite bathroom & 2 windows looking out onto the grounds.

It's comforting to see a relative content & comfortable. Thank you to all the staff.

My dad was discharged to Kippingtons from hospital with dementia, Parkinson's, cancer among other things. At every stage, the staff in the home were very kind, warm, welcoming and friendly, very caring, responsive and hard-working. Every time we visited, we felt very welcome and could see that it was
a happy place to live and work. Many of the staff have worked there for years. It has a lovely atmosphere, very welcoming, flexible and putting the needs of the residents first. They are very capable to care for the needs of a wide range of people from light needs to very heavy duty needs. The home is very well managed and well lead. The food is excellent. My dad ate much better there than he had for years at home. They do their best to keep the residents stimulated with activities. It's a lovely physical environment, very homely and has a beautiful garden. They were very responsive to the needs of my dad as they arose. I thoroughly recommend the home.
Reply from Nicole Howarth, on behalf of the team at KippingtonsThank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review, N! When first walking into the reception at Kippingtons, my children and I had a really good feeling about it. The reception staff are warm and welcoming, offering us refreshments. We walked into the lounge where some residents were playing a game. They seemed relaxed and happy. The care staff and nurses
are so lovely and seem to have lots of patience and understanding. The rooms are lovely. The dining room is bright and relaxed and the food is great. The grounds/garden is pretty. We wanted my husband to be looked after by this kind and caring home.

The staff, carers and nurses are very good, and you can tell that they really care - it's not just a job for them. The nurses, in particular, are excellent with their support and help. Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.626)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.626) out of 10 for Kippingtons is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.626 for Kippingtons is calculated as follows: ( (222 Excellents x 5) + (100 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.626
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kippingtons is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have always had a passion for health and social care since I cared for my own Grandfather from a young age. I started my career as a healthcare assistant in a nursing home, proceeded to a senior clinical support worker for the NHS on an elderly care ward which led me to completing my nursing degree.

During my nursing career I have experienced working on a frailty ward for the NHS, as a Clinical case manager within the community nursing for those in their own homes and within management in nursing homes that has involved me working on the floor as a registered nurse at times.

I have personal experience of having parents with dementia and making the decision of placing them in care which I feel gives me increased compassion and empathy to those tackling this decision themselves.

I feel I am committed to ensuring that our residents receive the best quality care with compassion and respect they deserve. I work closely with the residents, relatives and colleagues to ensure Kippingtons is a warm and friendly atmosphere to live and work in.

My ethos is that I would not ask someone to do something that I have not or would not be prepared to do myself. Teamwork and good communication is key.
