Overall Experience
We moved Mum from another home after concerns she was mainly in bed all day and had lost her appetite, we decided to make the difficult decision to move Mum.
After my husband and I viewed Kippingtons we were impressed by the home manager. The atmosphere of the home was welcoming with staff and residents smiling. The home isn't as modern as the other homes we viewed, however, we selected the home as we were confident Mum would receive the care we expected, we were not disappointed. The building is full of history and Mum smiled when she first came into the home, something we had not seen for a long time. Mum was in the home for just under a year and in that time she put on weight and joined in with activities. They have a wonderful activities team and they would often see Mum singing and clapping her hands.
The manager, nurses and all staff are a credit to the care industry and we can't thank them enough for the care and respect they gave to Mum and our family.

Thank you !

We have met many of the residents via playgroup, my toddler daughter loves meeting the 'oldies' and gives cuddles to many. The home is very caring and does activities daily and freshly cooked meals. We love coming and supporting the home and young and old to play and sing together.

I am very impressed with the standard of care offered to my wife. Everyone, from the manager down to the assistants, treats the residents with care and consideration. Many of them going the extra mile to help when required.

I am most satisfied with the home.

Overall we have been extremely pleased with our experience at Kippington. A course of hiccups at the beginning but only minor. My father is getting the best possible care and seems very fond of the staff and carers who seem charming. Plus the food is very good.

Our mother was only in Kippington for three weeks but my brother, sister and myself were all impressed with the level of care and compassion shown to her, and to us. The care and all the staff were exemplary.

Our mother did not use the activities and due to her condition, did not eat much of the food, so it was difficult to assess these areas.

Meet the Team (1)

Kathryn Paterson
Kathryn PatersonJob Title:Home Manager

I have always had a passion for health and social care since I cared for my own Grandfather from a young age. I started my career as a healthcare assistant in a nursing home, proceeded to a senior clinical support worker for the NHS on an elderly care ward which led me to completing my nursing degree.

During my nursing career I have experienced working on a frailty ward for the NHS, as a Clinical case manager within the community nursing for those in their own homes and within management in nursing homes that has involved me working on the floor as a registered nurse at times.

I have personal experience of having parents with dementia and making the decision of placing them in care which I feel gives me increased compassion and empathy to those tackling this decision themselves.

I feel I am committed to ensuring that our residents receive the best quality care with compassion and respect they deserve. I work closely with the residents, relatives and colleagues to ensure Kippingtons is a warm and friendly atmosphere to live and work in.

My ethos is that I would not ask someone to do something that I have not or would not be prepared to do myself. Teamwork and good communication is key.
