  • Kippingtons Nursing Home, Sevenoaks
Kippingtons Nursing Home in Sevenoaks provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 50 elderly people, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and long-term care for individuals or couples.

At the home, all staff are highly trained to offer the best care and support to all residents, including their own dementia training, which addresses the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment and an improved dining experience for residents living with dementia and or dysphagia.

Formerly known as Kippington Grange, the house was originally built in 1874 as a grand private family home. Steeped in history and provenance, the house is reputed to have had connections with Thomas Farnaby and Jane Austen. The sensitively converted Victorian property boasts scenic surroundings and is located a short distance from the market town of Sevenoaks. Its proximity to the centre of town makes Kippingtons fully accessible to local shops and amenities. The home is set within landscaped gardens with views which extend for nearly two miles.

The transition into a care home can be challenging for both an individual and the family. Caring Homes recognises this and provides a working partnership that upholds the values of dignity, privacy, choice and independence with the aim of providing practical assistance to the individual.

I am very impressed with the standard of care offered to my wife. Everyone, from the manager down to the assistants, treats the residents with care and consideration. Many of them going the extra mile to help when required.
I am most satisfied with the home.

Overall we have been extremely pleased with our experience at Kippington. A course of hiccups at the beginning but only minor. My father is getting the best possible care and seems very fond of the staff and carers who seem charming. Plus the food is very good.

Our mother was only in Kippington for three weeks but my brother, sister and myself were all impressed with the level of care and compassion shown to her, and to us. The care and all the staff were exemplary.
Our mother did not use the activities and due to her condition, did not eat much of the food,
so it was difficult to assess these areas.

My mother entered Kippington as a resident in early January. From the start, she liked Kippington, felt relaxed, comfortable and happy. This continued throughout. She is now very content and more settled with life once again.

The care home seems to be run satisfactorily. Seems to be a high turnover of staff. There are plenty of entertainment - although my mother is confined to bed so doesn't often participate. There is always choices of meals at each meal times. Carers are always friendly. There is a relative meeting about
every 3 months.

Mum was apprehensive about going into Kippington but the visit by the manager to our home prior admission completely allayed any fears she had.
The welcome Mum received, together with the kindness shown by all staff, was reassuring that we had made the right decision. Her room was well appointed with
ornaments and flowers and a welcoming card awaited her, signed on behalf of the staff.
Six weeks later and Mum is completely at home: she has made several friends, not only residents but many staff.

Mum is 102 years old and registered blind but still shows her wonderful disposition which has helped her to settle in and feel at home. The staff are so attentive and caring and Mum says 'very discrete'. The daily activities are really well thought of. I visit Mum each day and there always seems to be laughter. She enjoys mealtimes, the varied menu and never stops telling me that she wants for nothing and there is always something to do.

Well done Kippington, keep it up and thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.619)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.619) out of 10 for Kippingtons Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.619 for Kippingtons Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (93 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.619
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kippingtons Nursing Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

“I have always had a passion for health and social care since I cared for my own Grandfather from a young age. I started my career as a healthcare assistant in a nursing home, proceeded to a senior clinical support worker for the NHS on an elderly care ward, which led me to completing my nursing degree.

During my nursing career, I have experienced working on a frailty ward for the NHS, as a Clinical case manager within the community nursing for those in their own homes and within management in nursing homes, which has involved me working on the floor as a registered nurse at times.

I have personal experience of having parents with dementia and making the decision of placing them in care, which I feel gives me increased compassion and empathy for those tackling this decision themselves.

I feel I am committed to ensuring that our residents receive the best quality care with compassion and respect they deserve. I work closely with the residents, relatives and colleagues to ensure Kippington is a warm and friendly atmosphere to live and work in.

My ethos is that I would not ask someone to do something that I have not or would not be prepared to do myself. Teamwork and good communication is key.”
