From my initial enquiry right through my admission for 1 week convalescence, everything and everyone has been excellent. I was warmly welcomed, and nothing was too much trouble. I felt like being on holiday in 5* hotel! My recovery has been seamless due to the continued support I have received. Thanks

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
What a wonderful care home in so many ways, from the staff-at all levels- to the purpose built property. The team are always engaged, attentive, kind and enthusiastic to provide excellent care for Mum, which really helps to support her with dignity in her final years.
The management team also have
an open "door" policy for both the residents and relatives that adds to that reassurance and peace of mind that the best care is achieved.
As I mentioned the building/rooms are of a high standard ,giving it the feeling of a home from home but with a hotel quality, as is the professional catering with many choices of excellent menus all produced on-site. A super touch is the coffee shop where you can meet together and even have a meal together. Laundry and maintenance teams add to provide an excellent overall standard. I'm happy to highly recommend the Brtten Court team.

Newbury Grove

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
There is a wonderful atmosphere of care and kindness at Newbury Grove. All residents are known as individuals and their needs understood. They are treated with dignity and compassion.

The strong management team works alongside the carers ensuring a professional, dedicated and happy atmosphere with

high retention of staff.

The wide range of activities includes craft, gentle exercises, music, and outings in the Home's minibus. If residents prefer, there are 1:1 times.

The delicious and nutritious food provides excellent choice and can be adapted to suit individual circumstances.

A beautiful courtyard garden provides sunny or shaded areas and residents can tend their own raised beds.

The rooms are comfortable, clean, well maintained and all have ensuite wet room facilities.

All together, Newbury Grove is a very special place and I highly recommend it..

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has been a resident at Abney for a couple of years and overall I'm very pleased with her care there. The home environment is very pleasant and some recent decorative improvements have made it even better for the residents. The staff are good and try to make it a caring and warm place for all
the residents to live with dignity. There's a wide range of daily activities and mum really enjoys taking part in these. Food and drink are of a high standard and there's a nice dining area for people to spend time in. Overall I'd definitely recommend as somewhere you can feel confident your loved ones will be cared for when they can no longer live independently.

Ambleside

from B L (Husband of Resident) published on 26 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My wife spent 6 months and although the staff were all good.
I did not feel the management cared at all. My wife has alzheimer's dementia she allegedly pushed another resident over at 3 on morning. Where were the staff.
I was told about this and it was explained as one of those things.
I had a
telephone call a week or so after and was told My wife had to leave. It was never suggested that we meet and discuss it.
I did try to make contact with the area manager who never returned my emails.
I feel not to have had any contact face to face is worrying.
I must also question where the members of staff were at that time this happened in the main corridor. This was never raised as an issue.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at AmblesideThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am deeply concerned to read about your experience, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the distress this situation has caused you and your wife. We fully recognise how important clear communication, transparency, and support are for families, particularly when a loved one is living with Alzheimer’s dementia.
The incident you describe should have prompted immediate, thorough, and compassionate engagement with you. I am sorry that this did not happen. You should have been offered a face to face meeting at the earliest opportunity to discuss the circumstances, understand what occurred, and work together on an appropriate plan moving forward. It is disappointing to learn that this did not take place, and I regret that your attempts to contact senior management were not responded to. This falls short of the standard of communication and accountability we expect.
Your concerns regarding staffing presence at the time of the incident are also taken very seriously. Events of this nature should always be fully reviewed, with contributing factors clearly explained and addressed. I regret that you were not provided with the level of detail and reassurance you rightly expected.
Please be assured that your comments will be used as part of our ongoing review of practice and communication within the service. We are committed to learning from this experience to ensure that families receive consistent, timely, and respectful engagement from our teams.
In addition to my own wish to speak with you personally, the home is led by an experienced and dedicated manager, who is fully informed of your concerns and would also welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss the matter in detail and offer further clarity and support.
If you would be willing, please contact my office or the home manager directly at your convenience so that we may arrange a suitable time to talk.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve the quality of our services.

Bishops Manor

from Helen M (Friend of Resident) published on 25 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I had a dear friend in Bishops Manor, from springtime of last year until her death in February. I cannot fault the care she received: I was able to talk through any concerns or issues, the level of communication was sympathetic and understanding. My friend settled in quite quickly, and I was aware
she was happy, making a speech of thanks at her 90th birthday tea party, and again during a meal time. She was so appreciative toward the staff and managed to express how supported and looked after she felt. When she was close to the end of her life, the care team were so kind and empathic, involving me in decisions: and patiently explaining their actions. Their attentive and vigilant care during this difficult time was heartwarming. The care overall has been exemplary, my friend spent the last months of her life content, and very well cared for. For this I am grateful, as it meant that I could relax knowing she was safe in very capable hands. Many warm thanks to everyone at Bishops Manor.

My mother stayed at Bowes House for 3 weeks respite/rehabilitation after a 2-week hospital stay. Lisa was very quick to organise the admission and ensure everything was in place. It is a lovely environment for the residents and all the staff are amazing. We would have no hesitation in booking Mum back
in should she need further rest bite care.

High standard of care. Excellent choice of activities, some have been specially tailored/created after mum made suggestions.

Everyone extremely friendly from reception staff, carers and domestic staff.

My Dad came to Manor Lodge for end of life care. The team of nurses, health care assistants and catering team looked after my Dad and the whole family with the greatest care and medical skill. Everyone was so kind to my Dad and treated him with respect and the greatest dignity. It gave us the greatest
of comfort to know he had been so well cared for.

Our Auntie has been a resident at Dashwood since it opened. She is always treated like a family member by all the staff. They are friendly and kind and always keep us informed should we need to be advised of anything.

It is always appreciated that our uncle who visits her weekly is able to enjoy

a meal with her and he is also treated well and enjoys his visits.

The home offers an extensive range of activities and services and a good range of meals is offered daily.

I would have no hesitation recommending this home to others.

Great, thoughtful, well trained, kind staff who go the extra mile to make the residents comfortable, happy, and well cared for in a modern, clean, and well appointed facility. The gardens, extra facilities such as the cafe, beauty parlour, cinema room, etc all make this an outstanding care home.

Anning House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My 86 year old mother has end stage Parkinson's, is very thin and frail, and needs help with almost everything she does. The staff at Anning House have taken great care to get to know my mother, what she does and doesn't like, how she responds best and they have treated her gently and with the utmost
respect since she arrived with them 6 weeks ago.

She is happy in her surroundings, the home is elegant and comfortable, she has a large room which is always immaculate thanks to the friendly cleaner, George. The staff are very attentive, checking in on her, and, if she feels up to it, they take her to the lounge, where she can socialise, or enjoy the entertainment that is laid on every afternoon.

I am so relieved that Anning House has turned out to be even better than I had hoped, their medical care is first rate and my mother settled in well.

It is hard to adequately express our gratitude to everyone at Lonsdale Mews. My Dad came to Lonsdale Mews for an initial 2 week respite period following a sudden decline in his mobility, recurrent falls and the death of my mother. Initially he was very frail, hardly eating , withdrawn and very resistant
to the help and care that was offered. The wonderful staff showed great patience and compassion towards him and now a permanent resident, he is slowly returning to his old self. All the staff have been excellent in monitoring Dad, immediately acting on any health concerns and we get regular, detailed updates every time we visit. The staff have really taken the time to get to know Dad and the whole family, and their support of us all through some very challenging times has been wonderful. Lonsdale Mews is far removed from my initial preconceptions of a care home , with wonderful facilities, food and entertainment options but it is in their respect for the residents that they truly excel.
Reply from Jenny Cartwright, Reviews Team at Lonsdale MewsThank you very much for your kind words. We delighted that your Dad has settled in so well with us and is beginning to feel more like himself again.
It means a great deal to know that our team’s patience, care, and support have made a positive difference during a difficult time for your family. We’re especially pleased that you feel well-informed and supported throughout.
Thank you again for your feedback, it is a privilege to have your Dad in our care.
Many thanks

Generally we're really happy with the level of care given to day. My only 3/5 for activity is owing to dad having limited mobility so he insn't able to engage as much as other residents.

Keep uo the good work!

Reply from Leahanne Wilkinson, Reviews Team at Dashwood ManorHello Duncan
Thank you so much for your kind review and thoughtful feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you’re happy with the level of care provided each day.
We also appreciate your comments about the activities. We completely understand that Dad’s limited mobility can affect how much he’s able to take part, and while he can’t always join in all the time, the team makes sure to spend time with him on a one-to-one basis so he still feels included, supported, and engaged in a way that suits him.
Thank you again for your support and encouragement, it really means a lot to the team.
From the whole team at Dashwood Manor.

Priors House

Priors House is outstanding!
From May '25 to Feb '26 my mum was stuck in a spiral of hospitalisations. She would be discharged from hospital only to be readmitted a few days later, by ambulance, with a recurrence of the same symptoms. With each cycle her health deterioriated to new lows.
By Feb '26
it was clear that mum's care needs were more than one carer could cope with at home, and we needed a way to break the cycle of hospital admissions or accept that we were losing her.
Since moving her to Priors House in Feb, the transformation in my mother's wellbeing has been amazing. 3 weeks ago she couldn't get out of bed. Last week she went on a trip to a safari park. She is happier than I've seen her in months, eating full meals, getting stronger each day, mentally far more alert, and enjoying life! This is because of the fabulous care and positivity provided by Priors House. Whatever happens now, I know she will get the best possible care and attention. I am so grateful!
Reply from Sarah Mitchell, Reviews Team at Priors HouseThank you so much for sharing this incredibly moving feedback. We are truly honoured that you entrusted us with your mother’s care during such a difficult time.
It means a great deal to hear about the positive transformation in her wellbeing since joining Priors House. Stories like yours are exactly why our team is so passionate about what we do. Supporting residents to regain strength, confidence, and enjoyment in daily life is at the heart of our approach, and your kind words about our care, positivity, and dedication will mean so much to everyone here.
We’re especially delighted to hear about your mum’s recent progress from being unable to get out of bed to enjoying a safari park trip is truly wonderful. Knowing she is happier, stronger, and more engaged is the greatest reward for ypu to hear as a family but also for our team.
Thank you again for your trust and gratitude. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure your mother receives the very best care and support every day.

8 weeks ago we chose to move our father to Parker Meadows due to a rapid deterioration in his health during 2025 and the need for 24/7 support. His and our experience has been entirely positive, as the staff helped him through a difficult emotional adjustment to losing his independence. The patient
and dignified support means he is now happy, settled and has given his family & friends the opportunity to enjoy time with him, rather than trying to be carers. If I was in a home, I hope it would be Parker Meadows!!

Since moving into The Mayfield Care Home last year my father has been treated kindly and welcomed, despite the loss of independence being very difficult. He is now end of life, I have stayed with dad 24/7. I would like to say how extremely impressed I am with the exemplary care received to himself and
how the staff have looked after me. He has been given dignity and respect, excellent communication from the staff. They have all been welcoming and supportive at this dreadful time. The carers are shining stars.
