My mum moved into Murrayside Care Home last year after a long spell in hospital. She is cared for with respect, gentleness and kindness at all times. She has a lovely bedroom and en-suite, with a large window giving natural light, and her own belongings making it familiar and personal to her. The home
is very clean, fresh and light with a welcoming and calm atmosphere. The outside space is wonderful and we make good use of it when we visit my mum and the weather is suitable. The café and balcony is another favourite spot. There's a good variety of activities for my mum to observe or participate in, along with music therapy and namaste, as well as visiting entertainment and a therapet. My mum enjoys her visits to the on-site hair salon and she always looks clean and smart.
All staff are very welcoming to us and it is so apparent that they spend quality time with my mum looking after her needs and ensuring she is content.

The level of care my mother receives is outstanding and we are always made to feel so welcome. I see how hard the team works and how they remain professional with an excellent sense of humour and ensure that all the residents are engaged in the most amazing activities. The rooms are always clean, and
the laundry service is fantastic. The catering is exceptional. We are so proud that we made this choice for our mother and very much appreciate the staff dedication and lovely warm smiles.

Both my Mother and Father came into Murrayside 2 years ago. My Mother has sadly passed away but whilst she was there she was taken care of in a kind and compassionate way right to the end. My father has Alzheimer's and all the staff on floor one (nursing, carers, kitchen staff and cleaners) work hard
to make sure he is as comfortable as possible and his care and entertainment is tailored to his changing needs. The home has a very warm, welcoming and relaxed feeling throughout. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones in their final years.

We moved our relative to Murrayside from another care home in Edinburgh & we have been so impressed from the outset. The Customer Relations Manager who is exemplary, warm & friendly Admin team - to the dynamic duo of the Deputy Manager & Home Manager who are approachable & visible, (meeting several times
at the outset) lovely Activities coordinator & team who tailor individual interests, empathetic Nurse Leads & Carers to the efficient Domestic team, talented Chef & kind Handyman, all are personable & have the same committed attitude in supporting our relative & us.The Nurses & Carers have gotten to know our relative aside of their Dementia & Autism, thanks to the consistent staffing input. It's this attention to detail which is Murrayside's strength. The bedrooms are light spacious & with range of facilities/activity rooms that are hygienic, well-maintained & beautiful gardens.Murrayside excels in providing so much more in the care, considerations & wonderful atmosphere it holds.

Choosing a care home for a family member is a very daunting task. You want them to feel at home and not like they're in a 'care home'. Murrayside achieves that.
The facilities are excellent, the bedrooms are well decorated and comfortable, the lounges are airy and nice to sit in. The cafe and balcony
or garden are excellent areas to be able to go when visiting. It feels like you're able to take your loved one out without leaving the familiarity of the home.
When my aunt first came to live at Murrayside she was in a wheelchair, very frail and not communicating. What the staff have achieved is remarkable, with their care and compassion, she is now using a zimmer and talking and laughing. Much like her old self, we never thought we would see that again.
I would have no qualms recommending Murrayside. My aunt never wanted to live in a care home, but she often says 'I love it here, the staff are so good, there's always something happening, they can't do enough for you.'

My mum moved into Murrayside in November 2025 and was immediately welcomed by the staff who have set about getting to know her.
She has settled in well and is really enjoying the company of other residents; and taking part in the many activities on offer.
Staff are all very friendly and there's a
happy and supportive atmosphere.
Christmas at Murrayside was great, with parties and a lunch on Christmas Day.
Facilities are the home are marvellous with a lovely garden and a cafe with a large raised terrace looking towards the Castle and Arthurs Seat.
Murrayside is offering mum an excellent quality of life and is definitely the right choice for us.

What an amazing place. The standard of care and genuine warmth of the staff is exemplary. The quality of the provision - activities, individual rooms, social spaces, food, and cleanliness is outstanding. Even the location and grounds of the care facility are great, with easy access to a regular bus
route and lovely views of the city. If ever I need to go into a care home, I would be happy to choose Murrayside.

We visited Murrayside after touring several Care homes in the Edinburgh area. Our initial impression was very favorable based on cleanliness, facilities and location.
However once we had the opportunity to to meet the staff , we were convinced this was the place for our loved one.
Our loved one had
now been a resident for several weeks and the transition was easy and everything had been marvelous.
We could not be happier with the staff, the home and the care provided to our father.

From the very start of visiting this home for my relative, we were treated with top professional service, we were listened to and nothing was too much trouble. The move in was faultless. I now visit regularly and am always greeted with a smile and they use my first name. The medical staff are very
vigilant and take their responsibilities very seriously. Communication to me, very important for me, is always spot on. The carers are always very helpful and have made my relative feel very safe and at home. The Management run a first class home. Thank you

My dad aged 90 after a 3-month stay in hospital was admitted to Murrayside.
I have been delighted with his care. He appears to be settling in well.
All staff from administration, housekeeping, maintenance, nursing and carers have made us all feel welcome.
His care is person-centred and exemplary.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
We now enjoy quality time, and he is safe and well-looked after.
I would highly recommend Murrayside.

My mum moved to Murrayside after years of being 100% sure she never wanted to go into a care home. Mum realised, however, that the time had come when she couldn't cope at home herself any more and daycare support here and there just wasn't enough.
That she settled so quickly and has at no time had
any desire to return home is a testament to the fantastic job the staff at Murrayside have done in helping Mum settle. It has been seamless. She is happy and relaxed (with the angst of living alone with dementia having left her face), is fitter and is so enjoying the company and varied activities as well as the support of the professional, caring and fun staff. She is loving having lots of new pals who are in the same boat as she is. When I visit Mum, she loves to go upstairs to the coffee shop. It is a joy to see her happy again and feeling safe and without worries.
I just attended a review today of her first few weeks, and could fault nothing!

My sister moved into Murrayside Care Home on November 18th 2024. Her 3 daughters organised the move, they are my nieces. We all live in the area. The actual move happened quickly after our decision that a move for safety and care was needed. We had an orientation visit along with my sister and by ourselves.
On the visit with my sister, while admiring the facility suddenly realized that it was "her" who would be there, she protested, staff and manager coped with this well helping us as a family too with her anger towards her daughters. One month on, now my sister has settled well, joined in activities and making friends. We are free to visit. So far so good. She is happy and safe.

Murrayside Care Home has been exemplary in their care for my relative. After living at home with dementia for five years, a recent hospital visit highlighted the need for full-time care. From the moment I first met the staff at Murrayside, the care and support provided have been outstanding. Despite
initially being reluctant to move into a care home, my relative has settled in very well. During our most recent visit, we were delighted to see her happier than she has been in a long time. Knowing she is safe is reassuring, but seeing her genuinely happy means so much more. I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown by everyone at Murrayside.

As with other families, we tried to support Mum living at home for as long as we could. Unfortunately, her health in recent months culminated in hospital admission and returning home was not an option. The fact that my aunt and I live some distance away seemed an additional imperative to finding residential
nursing care where we could be reassured that Mum would be well looked after. From the time that I viewed Murrayside, I have been impressed at the connection and respect between staff and residents, whatever their care needs and abilities. Mum requires regular care and attention. Staff see to her needs with care and respect, communicating with warmth and humour which helps her maintain dignity in spite of her circumstances and requirements. All staff, whatever their role, have been welcoming and supportive and take time to answer any questions that we have. It is so lovely to know that Mum is settled, content and well cared for here.

My family agreed, earlier in the summer, that the time had come to consider placing my wife in full-time care. My daughter and daughter-in-law volunteered to research and visit residences.
From the outset, the staff members at Murrayside were approachable and wholly understanding of our needs. The
facility looked very impressive. Modern, bright and welcoming. We were delighted when a room became available.
At a time when such a decision is difficult, distressing and life-changing, the support has been sympathetic, positive and reassuring.
Since my wife took up residence in Murrayside all we hoped for has been fulfilled. The staff are professional, supportive and, best of all, incredibly caring. My wife is settled, well cared for and kept entertained in so far as she is able.
Whilst there will always be regrets, Murrayside and its staff have made the move so much easier.
Thank you.

All the staff at Murrayside are extremely kind, caring, friendly and professional and attend to my aunt's every need. My aunt moved into Murrayside in March 2024 with very poor mental health and was diagnosed with dementia. With the exceptional care and support that she receives around the clock the
transformation in her is amazing and heartwarming to see. She settled in so well and is so much happier, and calmer and enjoys life to the full! She absolutely loves all the wonderful activities put on in the home daily, they have their own minibus which my aunt really looks forward to the weekly trip. The hair salon and cafe are brilliant and she enjoys sitting in the gardens and out on the balcony. The staff are all extremely helpful and I receive regular updates about my aunt, together with amazing photos/updates on their app. The facilities at Murrayside are outstanding and maintained to a very high standard and the care is second to none, so without a doubt I recommend Murrayside.

After a four-month stay in the hospital, we realised my mother was no longer able to look after herself. I looked at many care homes in Edinburgh and the 3 in the Care UK group stood out, head and shoulders above the rest. My mother moved to Murrayside Care Home at the end of April and it is heartwarming

  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Murrayside is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2021

I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse and I joined Care UK in 2015. I’d been working as an agency nurse prior to that but I felt it was time to find a permanent role and really settle into the adult care sector. I think as a home manager it’s important to know the residents and the colleagues in your team. They are central to delivering the best care, so ensuring they’re happy and content is all-important.

The best part of any day is the opportunity to chat with my team and our wonderful residents and their families. It’s important we feel like one big family at Murrayside, so spending time together is key to that. This is a fantastic care home and I’m exciting about leading the team to even greater things.

Away from my job I enjoy walking. I’m very into the Step Challenge and enjoy creating some healthy competition with colleagues, friends and family with that. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family whenever I can.

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager

I moved sector and city when I joined the Murrayside team in 2020, I used to be the Trainee Manager of a five-star hotel in Aberdeen. When the pandemic started, I decided it was time for a change, and here I am.

I’m so grateful that I made the move into care, and came back to Edinburgh. I started out at Murrayside as a Receptionist/Administrator and I’ve worked my way up the ladder. It was a huge career highlight for me to be promoted into my current role as Customer Relations Manager at Murrayside.

I feel huge pride in being part of the Murrayside family. I love showing people around our amazing home, introducing them to the team, and showing them everything we have to offer. When I can, I enjoy chatting to residents and even getting involved in activities. I love seeing the residents making the most of each day.
